Patiently waiting for something worth upgrading to.

Guys, I could make that exact spreadsheet in Excel in 10 minutes, take a picture of it and post it all over the net saying I found some crazy secret internal release schedule from Verizon. Why couldn't the person include the third column in the picture? And can we get another VZW employee to take a picture of the same thing if its a widespread internal document?

I don't see big red releasing a Droid phone with zero information out there. They have hyped the crap out of every Droid phone up until now. Look at the Razr, they had a ton of marketing out there for the 11.11.11 release. Same with the Thunderbolt, Bionic, etc. Yeah, the Lucid didn't have any commercials, but its a $70 mid-range device, not a top of the line phone.

I'm guessing just like the Inc 4G ICS update, this new phone release is a complete hoax.

I hope Verizon gets the GS3, but I can't see them releasing the fighter/then the gs3. Would Verizon get both? My bet is the fighter means no gs3 on verizon.

Uh...why not? Fighter is Motorola, GS3 is Samsung.

Well, I don't know if it's a hoax or not, but it's hard to believe a new, top-of-the-line phone is getting released 3-4 days from now with nary a peep from anyone. Phones have to be setting in warehouses, on delivery trucks, or stores that someone has seen or something. Phones are sent to be tested and written about, some employees get the oppertunity to play with one for at least a few minutes. Like John Wayne used to say, "It's quiet out there.... to quiet!"

Bummer!!!!

The hood on my car fell and crushed my rezound and cracked my screen and I have also been experiencing some reception issues, like I will lose all coverage and can't access anything data wise in a place where I normally get 5 bars of 4g.

My question is since I have the extended batter/case should I use my (dads) upgrade on another rezound or wait a little while until the next big phone comes out? ( I can't find my standard battery to test whether or not its the phone or the case that has been damaged for reception issues )

All I want to know is when is the supposed Galaxy Journal going to be released. I've got a DX now and while at the time 4.3" was considered a large screen, I've gotten so used to it that it almost seems on the small side.

I've got large hands, I can handle a 5.3" screen! P

I have an original DINC and have been waiting for VZ to get something good for me to upgrade to. I really like HTC phones but if VZ doesn't get something good soon I'm going to give the Razr Maxx a shot.

I am in the very same boat as you are. I damn near got the Razr Maxx, but the camera held me back. If it had the GNex camera, then I would have gotten it. I'm not saying that the GNex camera is the best around, but it's good enough to the point where I would have gotten the Razr Maxx had it had that camera.

My question is, if that is a true internal document. Why would the column heading specify "Verizon" Release Date? Not saying it's not legit, but that throws questions marks to me.

You didn't buy a phone because of its camera? Its that important to you?

Just curious but what did you do before phones had cameras built in, carry around a SLR camera? If you did, you can still do that.

Just sayin'... is it a camera first and a phone second, or a phone first and a camera second.

Hey, this post is turning out to be fun, (and I hope you take it to be) but I just thought of another question....

If you had 2 gf's that you loved. One was worth 10 million dollar$ and had average size "you know whats", and the other was dirt poor but had huge "you know whats". Would you dump both and wait for a new GF that had both attributes? (lol)

I returned the Gnex and sold my Razr Maxx mainly because of the camera. In fact, I'm currently using an iPhone 4s because of the camera quality. As soon as someone comes out with an android phone with strong cell radios, good battery life and an excellent camera, I will buy it.

Once you see what's possible, it makes it inexcusable to put a crappy camera in any high-end phone, IMHO.

The point is that I should be able to have an awesome phone with an awesome camera. The camera on my iPhone is outstanding, and the camera on my Inc2 is excellent. Why then, did the cameras in my Gnex and Maxx have to be terrible? I want a top notch android phone, with a nice big, bright screen, quick and stable performance, good reception, good battery life, and a great camera. Too much to ask? I hope not.

Given the choice, I completely agree. However, the camera is not going to be a deciding factor. If the Inc4G has a crappy camera (not that I expect it to) but is great otherwise, I'll get it.

Now if I was torn between two devices, and one had a great camera and the other one didn't, I might let that tip the scales.

Considering the considerable progress that has been made in the quality of phone cameras, as well as the enormous variety of phones and built-in cameras available, I don't think it's at all unreasonable to consider a phone's camera as a main factor in deciding which phone to get. If you choose not to make strong consideration of the camera, that is perfectly fine as well as that is your prerogative. It's also relevant to recognize that, although they make phone calls, they really aren't just phones; they're pocket-sized computers that are capable of making phone calls.

So you not only switched phone but switched to a completely different mobile OS just because of the camera in the phone? Your choice but wow. The Maxx has strong radios and excellent batter life. Just curious why you think the camera on the Maxx is so bad? I have one as well as the iPhone 4s and while I will admit the optics are better on the iPhone's camera, the Maxx has MUCH better controls and my pics have looked just fine. Your only options on the iPhone's camera is a grid and a fake HDR filter. I find that to be inexcusable for a camera in a high end device. No scenes, no modes, you can't even change the resolution. I think thats just awful. Before you say that you can download an app for all that stuff, just remember that you can also download an app to make the Maxx's camera much better too.

I agree. I also just switched to the iphone 4s BECAUSE of the camera. I had originally upgraded to the galaxy nexus, but the camera was so sub par compared to my friends iphone4s. Once i saw how much better the pics and videos were on the iPhone, I returned the nexus after 10 days.

Given the choice I'd switch back to android though. I'm hoping the fighter and/or gs3 has a camera that is at least comparable to the iphone 4s.

If apple can make a smartphone with a great camera, why can't android????!!!!

I hear ya, Joey.

And your obsevation that they are pocket sized computers.... that they are. There isn't much I can do on my computer that I can't do on my phone. I have a high powered Alienware gaming laptop so the screen is bigger and it'll do what I ask extremely fast but the fact remains, I can do most of the things on my phone. It is slower and the screen smaller but my phone is 2-1/2" x 5", and my laptop is 16" x 12" and weighs 12-1/2 pounds.

Patiently/impatiently waiting for the phone to replace my Droid X. Just FYI, it's not out yet.

I recognize that the Maxx camera app had many more settings and features, but when it comes to point and shoot, my iPhone 4s takes sharper photos, in more varied lighting conditions, without adjustment. I was not going to suggest downloading an app - I'm just comparing stock to stock. The photos I was getting on my Maxx, we're just not sharp.

I can't say I love everything about the iPhone, in fact, far from it. That's why I'm on this forum, looking for info on the next new android phones from Verizon. I've had better luck with HTC phones, as far as the camera goes.

The Maxx was very nearly perfect for me. It proves that an android phone can be slim, and get good battery life. However, I'm waiting for a great camera too.

If you loved everything about the Maxx but the camera but dislike a lot of things about the iPhone, logic says you would have been better off keeping the phone you liked and picking up a point and shoot for $80? I have a Canon that's about the size of a credit card that I will take to concerts or events when I know I will want better quality photos or videos than what my phone can get.

I totally agree that everyone should have a full fledged camera for taking pictures at concerts, planned events, vacations, etc. But I also think there are others like myself who find that most pictures taken are actually on the fly, and most times the only camera on us is the one on our phone. For that reason alone I put a lot of emphasis on the camera of the phone. With that said, I own the G-Nex and while outdoor pics in daylight are very good.....that is where it ends imo. I too am looking for that one-stop-shop in a phone and hope one of these future phones provides it.

I'm still on the original Incredible. My two years with it are up this month. I'm not expecting a perfect phone, just a device that only has the trade-offs I'm willing to make. A good (not spectacular) camera is one of my must-have criteria. I've never used the GNex, but I've seen plenty of photos taken with it side-by-side with the same photos shot with the Razr (not Maxx, but I'm pretty sure it's the same camera in both Razr devices) and the GNex took superior photos, especially macro and low-light. They were sharper, brighter, and higher contrast.

Ideally, I'd like an LTE phone that also has a GSM chip in it, but my understanding is that the technology just isn't there yet to fit it all into one package at a reasonable price point. I'm willing to let go of that feature on my wish list, and with the rumors about the Incredible 4G and Droid Fighter, the not-too-distant (I hope!) future is looking promising for me.

Thanks, but I have a small Canon point and shoot too,and it takes great photos. So great, in fact, that I rarely lug my D90 around with me at all. However, I do not consider it a substitute for the camera in my phone. Ever try to message someone a picture from your Canon camera??

If you are happy with your devices, that's great. I will be excited to own a great android smartphone with an outstanding camera. I'm sure it's coming eventually.

If the bootloader gets unlocked the fighter looks pretty promising!

Right, no info or specs, official anyway. Here's a couple links with rumored info,

New Motorola Droid Razr HD (XT926) possibly headed to Verizon, could be the Droid Fighter Unwired View

Remember it's all rumor, but fun to read and imagine it's true.

Here's a page I found that I hadn't seen posted prior.

Motorola Droid Razr HD Spied in the Wild - Mobile & Apps

It says photos in the wild but apparently not of the phone itself, but a screenshot photo containing info. Also indicates a phone called the "Vanquish" which may be a internal codename for the Droid Fighter/RAZR HD.

Here's another link from BGR,

http://www.bgr.com/2012/04/16/high-definition-version-of-motorolas-razr-in-the-works/

Can't wait for the CTIA show next month,

HTC DROID Incredible 4G revealed via DROID Does site

"Ready for yet another smartphone in Verizon’s DROID lineup? Good. Big Red has today revealed the DROID Incredible 4G through the DROID Does website."

Slashgear

HTC DROID Incredible 4G spotted on Droid Does site

"The good old Droid Does web portal has been a reliable vector for leaked information for nearly every single DROID phone to date, and that tradition continues with the upcoming HTC DROID Incredible 4G. This third iteration of the Incredible hardware was spotted on the portal this morning with a full complement of specifications, finally laying to rest the rumors surrounding the device. The site also lists a price of $299, but that’s likely a leftover element from the DROID RAZR MAXX sub-site."

Android Community

Verizon Droid Incredible 4G LTE specs

Initial specs for the Verizon Droid Incredible 4G LTE, as seen at DroidDoes.com:

1.2GHz dual-core processor
1GB RAM

Beats Audio
Pandora
Slacker Radio
$299 on contract
8-megapixel rear-facing camera with flash
VGA front-facing camera
4G LTE hotspot
4-inch display
Size: 2.4 x 4.8 x 0.46 inches
Weight: 4.66 ounces
Battery: 1700 mAh

Sounds like a mid-grade phone to me. Droid Life seems to agree:
DROID Incredible 4G LTE Spotted at DroidDoes.com, Reveals Full Specs Ahead of Announcement – Droid Life

Pricing showed up as being $299 on contract, but we get the feeling that this was a leftover that had not been switched from the RAZR MAXX’s page. If clicked, it redirected to the MAXX, which we know is one of Verizon’s few $299 devices. We don’t have official word on this, but would be surprised if the Incredible 4G came in at $299. This phone should be at $199 and not a penny more. We have been shocked in the past though, so don’t take our word for it.

How disappointing.

Just curious but what gave you the impression that this was what Verizon is presenting as it "Latest and Greatest" phone on their network? I mean, The Droid Does website doesn't think it'll cost more than $199 on contract.

Again, not complaining or arguing with you, just wonderin'.

If Verizon can't slap the Droid brand on it or if it isn't by Motorola, at this point, you can pretty much forget about it.

I've been researching AT&T and Sprint all morning and afternoon. I'm able to terminate my contract with no fees due to marginal service. When I find out which carriers will get the GS3 (AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile I'm sure; Verizon has its head too far up Motorola's hole to admit to there being better phones out), I'll be leaving Verizon. I can't take this anymore. They botched the Galaxy Nexus, they continue to release mid-level phones, and I'm just tired of the shenanigans. I once felt privileged being a Verizon customer because it had the greatest Android phones. But given AT&T's line-up (GS2, HTC One X, Galaxy Note) and Sprint's Evo line I'm afraid that's no longer true.

The new Razr HD/Fighter will be the next big phone. I have had HTC and Samsung phones as well and both sucked. The radios in every Samsung phone are complete junk, so is their craptastic plastic build quality. HTC's Sense is a bloated, memory hog and the last one I had kept crashing because of the Friend Stream widget and the weather animations. Motorola has the superior build quality, better UI (Motocast is awesome) and with the same battery as the Maxx, the Razr HD will last much longer than any HTC or Samsung phone. Cant wait!

Yeah, like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus...oh wait...

Or how about the HTC Droid Rezound...oh yeah, it's not Droid branded either...it's just the HTC Rezound.

This. I've owned two HTC's and I swore by them, but I picked up a Razr recently, and everything is just.... better. I always thought HTC had the best build quality, but Motorola has done some fantastic things with the Razr. Motorola has the best radios and their UI is fantastic. I used to love Sense, but it has gotten very heavy and cumbersome, while Moto's is barely there. I'm excited to see how ICS will look on the Razr.
