Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen that one. Of course nothing we hadn't seen earlier regarding the Fighter but didn't matter to me. I was just happy to be reading something new.
Yeah, me too. My 20 months on my Droid X was up on March 15th of this year. It's still going strong and it's the best smartphone I've ever had. (only had three though) So, I can wait. Don't want to because I like new toys as much as the next guy but like mom used to say, "Good things come to those who wait."
So, I remain, Patiently/impatiently waiting for the Maxx HD/Droid Fighter,
Must be luck of the draw. I loved my Droid X in the beginning once I was able to manage the battery life (some updates probably helped) but now it's downright awful. It frequently reboots, is slow and I constantly get duplicate texts. VZW's response has been to send refurbished phone after refurbished phone. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th now. I can't wait to make a switch.

Sorry to hear that Mike. My "X" has actually been the best smartphone I've ever experienced. Only had 3 though. Only thing I've noticed is I have gotten duplicate texts on ocassion, very infrequently however.
I'm hoping some official info drops soon regarding the Maxx HD/Fighter but as my "X" is humming along just fine, at this point I can continue to wait.
Best of luck to you,

When I contact support about it they claim not to see any duplicates going over the network.
Are you using Handcent by any chance? They released an update that messes with you settings. You will have to set Handcent as the default messaging app (a new setting added via the update under "Settings")

Yes, although for a while I tested it just using the stock message app and I would still get occasional duplicates. I found the setting you mentioned and I've set Handcent as default now. We'll see what happens. Although, when I say duplicate it's often much more than just two of the same text. I think the record has been maybe 12.
BTW, I suspect that it is some type of error in acknowledging a sent/received message. Think about it...one text message doesn't just go out and that's it. It goes out until Verizon gets a response back from your phone saying that it was received. If something goes wrong with that receipt message, you get it again. Similarly, some people have issues with sending multiple copies of a text. The phone will keep trying to send until it gets a received message from the network (or it times out). If there's a problem with the received message, it goes again...and again...and again.

Yeah, I pretty much figured that. I don't know why Verizon can't deal with the issue. I found an app that supposedly blocks duplicate texts that I may try out.
I'm willing to go with the Incredible 4G as long as I've tried it out first. I don't see how it will be much longer, however I don't see a flagship phone like a SGSIII coming out before shared data though, sorry to say.

I've got a bad feeling that nothing'll hit before the shared data plans are in place. Sneeky, sneeky, Verizon.
I don't doubt that Verizon did plan on one or more of the Incredible 4G, Droid Razr HD and Galaxy S3 being associated with the new data plans, and possibly the iPhone 5 release, but I'm not sure how much control over the release dates VZW has actually had in some cases. The ITC exclusion against HTC and the resulting customs delays after the original issue was resolved may have affected the Droid Incredible 4G release, which the drops to the existing device price suggests may have originally been planned to already happen. And the pending ITC exclusion against Motorola along with the MMI-Google merger and the apparent focus on China to get them to approve the merger may be affecting the Droid Fighter/Razr HD development and release.
What IS on the horizon for verizon? I'm thinking possibly from here until the end of the year. I like my rezound but I'm dying to know if the htc journal(?) is really on its way. I just would like something slightly bigger with the functionality of the note... I think

To get the S3, which should be a great phone, or buy a cheap 4G phone to lock in on the unlimited 4G and buy the Razr HD outright later. Decisions..
The radio, build quality, and larger battery of Motorola phones is always very appealing compared to Samsung phones. The locked bootloader situation just seems blown way out of proportion. My current Droid X has a locked bootloader, but yet it can run CM9 and MIUI v4.. who needs a custom kernel when your battery life and phone speed are already top notch?
Not waiting another 2 months at best for Maxx HD, going Galaxy III
Ditto, probably can't wait another 2 months if I want to keep my unlimited data. Crap. Not that the GSIII isn't going to be a great phone, I'm just concerned that the screen is going to be too big for me (I have smallish hands). Well, guess if it proves too big, I can return it within the 14 day window and get a GNex or something else.
Ok, I'm appealing to someone who works at Motorola and has access to info/pix of the Maxx HD. Just post something.... anything.... annonomously(sp?) I'm dying of thirst here.
Seriously, it's been quite awhile since we've had any new info/rumors on this phone, the Maxx HD.... and I am dyin'. Well we all are, just at different rates. Haha!
I guess I'll live if you don't but I would appreciate something,
I don't think this is a tablet because Verizon has ended subsidized tablets and I cannot imagine that anyone will be buying their tablets straight from them anymore.
I mentioned in the comments as long as it doesn't carry the Rezound name and isn't a Note sized monstrosity I might hold off from the Incredible 4G for this.

As far as I know, the next phones that we can expect in Big Red's lineup that are worth noting are the aforementioned RAZR HD and the LG Optimus Vu. Now the RAZR HD is likely to be similar to be quite similar to the Atrix HD, with perhaps a higher megapixel camera. Thing is, it should have come out a month and a half ago and is likely to be akin to the Bionic with the "nice option but too late to the game" tag.
The Optimus Vu I suppose is supposed to be the answer to the Note that we were supposed to get, but who'se ferver has quelled significantly. Thing is with the Note 2 already in the pipeline for AT&T, does anyone really care?
Considering we just got the Incredible 4G, I don't see another HTC coming anytime soon unless it's closer to the One X, but with some newer features.
Let's face it, the Galaxy S3 is not just the best option right now, but I think will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Reason this is my opinion is because it's actually bringing innovation that other manufacturers haven't considered and the phones that are confirmed in the pipeline have had zero mention of anything comparative.

THANKS! I pretty much knew this, but was afraid to make the assumptions in case i was missing something. Definitely reassuring to hear someone elses opinion match my own.
In that case, for lack of a better device in the next 6mo, ill probably end up on the SG3.
Ill hop over to the root forum to see how it looks over there, do you happen to know off hand? I usually love me some CM roms!!
It's a good marketing scheme. Would you rather buy a Sammy with a 8 MP or the Moto with a 13 MP? 13 > 8.
I believe I would.

This is true, but like I said, either way it's not a deal breaker for me. Something that bothers me more is the non-replacable battery, but even this specification would not stop me from getting this phone.
I'm a pretty patient guy, (I bought my "X" on launch day so I've had it for over 2 years) so I'll wait for some additional specs to come out on the Razr HD before making any decision. However, that being said, I don't know of any spec that would be a deal breaker for me, except maybe making the phone available only in pink! But we'll see.
I'm just glad we're finally getting some pix and info on this phone, even if it's only leaks. I've been waiting a long time.
Just for anyone keeping track, I prefer the onscreen buttons rather than hard buttons, like on my "X". I'm hoping it's release with Jelly Bean but if it's ICS, so be it. I know JB will come, and like I said, I'm a patient guy.
Patiently/impatiently waiting for the release of the Razr HD.
