Default Calls going straight to voice mail.

I have never had this happen before with Verizon and I have been with them for several years. I don't get many phone calls (only a few a week) but 3 times on the last month I have had a call go straight to voice mail w/o my phone even ringing. In fact my phone doesn't even say I have a missed call, just a voice mail. This has happened once with my DINC and now twice with my MAXX. The caller says it rings on their end.

I have heard of different reasons for this happening but it doesn't really seem like there is anything that can be done about it but I figured I would ask anyway. Anyone else have this happen to them recently? Any of you found out a way to prevent it?

Thanks

Typically what you describe will happen when the cellular network can't see your phone.

Are you typically in the same general area when this happens? It's possible that the nearest cell tower to your location could be having issues... it's also possible, as Tyler79durdan suggested that your phone could have the mobile network disabled.

Is it possible for the mobile network to become disabled without me doing anything?

The 3 times it has happened have all been at different locations but all within about a 5 mile radius.

I solved this on my Droid X, I had Avast Mobile antivirus app. Which has a configurable setting for, callers not in contact list, or hidden (block) numbers.
Turned this off & all good in the world again.
