Does anyone know the old vzw pricing?
I am wondering if anyone knows the pricing of the Pre-share everything plan?
I am currently on a grandfathered unlimited plan and I called verizon and asked them if I added line if I would lose my data, they said no.
But once I started talking to the lady just adding another line to my service was making me go from $90/mo to $200/mo!
I know that can't be right, but I cannot find online anything about what the old plans pricing would be. I know I can't add a line and get unlimited data...but honestly my wife could do with the 300mb-1gb data...and 450minutes and low text plan. Just because all of her friends are on vzw, so the mobile to mobile would be free.
But does anyone know what I would be paying for her line?

Well, for starters, are you not on a family plan at $90/month? That could be where the enormous jump in cost comes from. On a family plan, it's $9.99 for each additional line, and the old school data plans are $30 per line for 2GB data (which used to be the unlimited data cost) so adding a smartphone should, in theory, jack your costs by $45 with fees/taxes.

No, I am on my own grandfathered plan. But I have 700 minutes and 1000 texts..and unlimited data.
Verizon did tell me that if I added a line to the account I would be eligible for the older pricing (minus unlimited data)...but then she went into this big long thing and said "so that makes it $190mo"
But if I can get the old pricing, it should only jack my costs by $45,correct?
I think the family plan for 2 lines 700 minutes talk and text was around 100 bucks. Plus the 2 data features of 60 would probably get it close to that 190 with tax and fees.
The old family plan had 2 lines for $100 a month with 700 mins and unlimited texting. I can't recall if there was a no texting option. I believe if there was it would be $20 cheaper. However with 2 $30 data features you'd be looking at $160 plus applicable taxes and fees. There should be no $9.99 line charge as the $100 includes the first 2 lines.
That is the plan I am on, 99.99 for 700 + unlimited texts, plus $60 for two smartphones. If you have insurance on your phones, that would be an additional 14, which brings it to $174, plus taxes could very well be $190.

I found the attached on someone's Flickr account. Thank goodness for screen caps. It's dated Oct 2011, so it should be reflective of pricing at that time. Did the rep say what kind of minutes you would get on the Family plan? If it was unlimited, it would be around $200.
$119 for minutes
$30 for your unlimited data on your phone
$30 for 2Gb tiered data on the new phone
$10 to 20 for taxes, etc
Not including texts. I didn't see unlimited text on this screen cap.
I've never had a Family Plan so I'm just roughing the numbers based on the attached image.

Dude!, you're the man!. Well the rep I talked to...(well she more or less talked to me) was trying to max out everything...I know she said something about 2000 minutes, and crazy amounts of texts. I think we could get by on the same plan the person in the screenshot had selected.
I was poking around VZW's site a couple weeks ago, I think to update a simple plan cost comparison table I maintain at work. (I administer the company's wireless plan.) And those "can we help you?" things kept popping-up. So I finally agreed to "talk" with one of them. During the conversation I allowed as how VZW had priced themselves out of the market for me, and the rep. claimed "our prices have only gone up $10/mo. for a data plan."
I knew better, because I'd just priced them months before, and had committed it to said table. Now I have "photographic" evidence. Thanks, Doit2It!
BrianJB,
That's the point. They're upping everybody to high-minute/-count voice/texting plans and limiting data. Mind you: Use of the voice and texting is declining, while data use is increasing. Then they charge more for the plan, because they're giving you unlimited amounts of that of which you have less need. Sneaky bastards, aren't they?

Jim, you hit the nail right on the head.
Plus I always love it when those "can we help you" windows pop up, they always try to talk me into changing to the share data plans, but once they seethe usage they tell me that they have nothing in my price range.
