I ran VeganTab 7.0 on my G tablet for several months, but I wanted to run Skype with video so I had to install the Clemsyn and Calkulin Rom. VeganTab 7.0 is a Gingerbread ROM while Clemsyn and Calkulin is a Froyo Rom.
Although I can now run Skype, I cannot help but to feel like I've downgraded (going from Gingerbread to Froyo).
With regard to the G Tablet, what will I miss out on by going back to Froyo? Are there any Gingerbread-only apps that I will have to give up?
What are the pros and cons of each?

last I check most everything work on the stable release of CM7 (7.0.3), and vegantab7 could be, I've not kept up with the gtab roms since I been running gtabcomb.
I have confirmed on the XDA developers site that Skype video does not work on Cyanogenmod 7 or 7.1. The camera will take still photos, but there is no working video camera even though perhaps a couple of video chat apps will work.
The reason, apparently, is that there are no video drivers available for the G Tablet for Gingerbread ROMs.
So, back to my original question, what will I give up by running Froyo and not Gingerbread?

the better ui and features that came with GB. The gtab should have never came out with 2.2 on it IMO lol, should have been 2.3 from the get go.
Honestly, despite the lack of some features (camera, HD video) and after trying numerous Froyo & Gingerbread ROMs, I find myself sticking with Honeycomb (gTabComb, specifically - have yet to be able to get Flashback 10.0 alpha to boot). With the Froyo/Gingerbread ROMs, it just feels like I'm using a giant phone - the Honeycomb ROM feels more like I want a tablet to feel.

Do you have any problems with the Honeycomb ROM? I was under the impression that all Honeycomb ROMs for the G Tab were in alpha and were buggy.

I am now running C&C Froyo with a VTL launcher, and I have another tablet (Nook Color) running Gingerbread. I can't tell a difference in the UI from the Gingerbread - except for the settings menu because C&C uses the same tap 'n tap settings menu as stock.
So I'm wondering if there is a difference under the hood, and I'm missing out on something.

I have an occasional Force Close here and there, but I've had those with most other ROMs I've tried too. No major show-stopper problems that I've encountered except for things that are known - the camera doesn't work at all, and HD video is also a problem (although I have heard some people have had success with third-party video players that include software decoders). For my use (e-mail, Netflix, Pandora, casual games, books/comics, web surfing, YouTube), the Honeycomb ROM seems to work just fine.
I will consider putting Honeycomb on my tablet when the development comes along furthur. This week I've decided to test Vegan-Tab 7.1. This has the usual Gingerbread issues of no/poor video camera and no hardware acceleration. I love Vegan-Tab, however somehow I think that only Froyo can exploit all the features of the G Tablet.
