Default Rooting Samsung Intercept

Okay so I was playing around with my cousins LG Optimus V, which of course is from Virgin Mobile and I had heard about the Quick Settings app, so I went into the market and downloaded and tried the WiFi Hotspot option, which worked wonders.

I tried the same thing on my phone, being a Samsung Intercept with 2.1 and the WiFi Hotspot option wasn't even there, after upgrading to 2.2.2 Froyo, the option is now there BUT it is password protected, and it doesn't give me the options to name change it or anything nor removed the password.

Anyone know how I can change that? before I go exchange my phone for the Optimus or can I get some help rooting it so that I can tether it?

I will provide with any information about my phones os so I can root it, but I have no idea whatsoever what to do.

Samsung Intercept stock
Virgin Mobile
2.2.2 Froyo

thank you

Here's the problem. the VM 2.2.2 is different enough that the existing Sprint root actions do not seem to work. So we are left at a place where we are at the mercy of the devs to get around to spending time figuring out how to root VM 2.2.

At least you got 1 reply ...

You can install a 3rd party apparently called intercept root. It works with froyo. Then install barnacal wifi tether (found in the market. . You can also freeze Amazon mp3 with root uninstaller. You can did it in the market.
