Default How to root 2.2

Is there an easy way to root my 2.2 intercept? I found some ways to root but it involved replacing the kernal.

Tried two applactions that run from Windows and they said they worked but when I tried to launch barnacle it didnt work

Happy Permanent Root or Temporary Root

The easiest way to root Samsung Intercept is to use Intercept Root Apk and Recovery flasher App.

Intercept Root Apk and Recovery flasher

If you want permenent root without rooted Kernel or rooted ROM, here is one Guide that I used:

[GUIDE] - How to gain permanent root using ADB Tool - Without Rooted Kernel/ROM

If you want permanent root with Rooted Kernel / Rooted ROM, here is one guide:

[GUIDE] - How to install Custom Kernel/ROM on your Intercept using CM01 Recovery

The best rooted kernel for VM USA Samsung Intercept Froyo EC07 is:

Vampirefo 2.2 kernel for vm wifi app2sd fix

If you simple want temporary root, then here is one guide for that:

[GUIDE] - How to use ADB Tool Manual method for getting Temporary Root

It sounds silly, but you need a better cable. I have the original from samsung, an LG, and Blackberry cable, but the only one that lets me do anything other than charge is the Blackberry.

What country are the developers of these ROMS working in and why do they do all this work for free? I'm always a bit Leary of freebies because of the old adage, "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts".
Just curious. Mostly humorous, so no offense intended.
Besides, the ROMS etc are all open source so anyone can clearly see all the code, right?
These are basically incredibly smart guys who like doing this and don't mind helping I assume?
I welcome education so feel free
