Slower processor and smaller screen than my Triumph? No thanks.

If it wasn't for the plan pricing change that would come with the Elite I'd consider it for that price. But now that I have a tablet I am not in that big of a rush to upgrade my Optimus V.

Well, it's listed on walmart.com already, depending on what date it's released, you might be able to get it with the $25 plan.

It'll be released before May 27th. That's the date that is the cut off for being grandfathered on a new released device.

If it's already showing up on websites, It'll usually be released within two weeks or less.

I would bet my house that either the HTC One V, Evo V, or both will be released on that day.

The plan for new people did. But other people who already had the plan were gandfathered in so now VM is getting rid of the grandfathered plan all entirely for people who get a new phone manufactured after May whatever. This is one of the only ways they can get people off of the granfathered plan

It's probably because the newest phone released after May will likely carry 4G.

They'll be unable to grandfather if that's the case. It won't be cost efficient.

They may release one more 3G phone shortly before the 4G is introduced (After May 27th). I would not recommend anyone get hasty. Since your price plan will be changing by the end of May anyways, Why not wait for a better device?

Yeah but this is the VM section and he said ICS was coming so I was under the impression that it was going to be coming to Virgin but that particular phone is going to Boost.

This is what Virgin is getting

"As Pocketnow first reported, a version of the EVO 3D known as the EVO V 4G is prepared to hit Virgin, while Boost will get the EVO Design 4G (name supposedly intact). They will be the first two phones to take advantage of the carriers’ adoption of Sprint’s 4G WiMax network (but not, apparently, its LTE services)

The EVO V 4G is said to arrive in both grey and plum and offers up a still attractive set of features for a prepaid carrier. Pairing a 3D glasses-free screen, 5 megapixel camera, qHD screen and a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, the EVO V 4G can still hold its own against many Android handsets on the market"

This is all good news, but what I'm really waiting on is the price point. I'm hoping for $299 like the Triumph released at.

If the Design has it, I'd be shocked if the Evo V 4G didn't. They were both in line for the update and I think it might have already dropped. Consequently, them putting it in the new production models isn't a stretch.

When DH and I first got around to cell phones, we were in a low-income situation. We're not now, but still prefer the much lower prices and not having to deal with contracts.

The HTC Evo 3D has been at Sprint for quite some time (in fact, Sprint is retiring the phone), so I would think one would be able to get a round about price check by looking at the Sprint version of the phone at BestBuy (in case they sell out or remove the add, it's $199.99 USD).

Of course, right here on Android Forums you can peruse the HTC Evo 3D forums to see what others think of the phone. If I do make the switch then I think this might be a phone I would heavily research before I spend my cash.

Actually, it is no longer "rumored". It is confirmed. We shall be getting the EVO V 4G in a matter of... weeks?

For Virgin Mobile eh? LOL, I know what phone I'm switching too in a few weeks.

Default Virgin phones released after May 1st are subject to rate plan increase!!!

Be careful... Phones released after May the 1st 2012 are subject to the increase. I'm sticking with my Optimus V because of this.

Really ~ what kind of crazy rule is this? If you upgrade to a new phone we will penalize you? I can sense a potential class action approaching.

What are the new device upgrade rules?

Starting May 27, 2012, if you are using the $25, $40, or $60 Beyond Talk plan and you upgrade to a Beyond Talk Smartphone launched after May 1, 2012*, you will need to switch to the $35, $45, or $55 Beyond Talk plan. When you switch plans, you will need to pay for your new plan and you will lose any minutes, messages, and money in your balance. This will also change your monthly payment date. So if you are considering upgrading to a new smartphone, we recommend that you wait until right before your next monthly payment date to activate.

*The following smartphones launched before May 1, 2012 and are therefore not subject to the new device upgrade rules at this time: VentureTM, LG ® OptimusTM Slider, HTC ® Wildfire STM, Motorola TriumphTM, LG ® Optimus VTM, Blackberry ® CurveTM 8530.

-----

I love the $25- plan and am sticking to it now more than ever out of principle.
Virgin has really lost me here. I don't mind that they increase their fees but to introduce it this way is a little silly. The customer is essentially being penalized for buying a new phone from them? What kind of logic is this???

Optimus Elite is being shipped on the 15th so that should still be on the $25 plan.

Virgin Mobile has been tricky.

Optimus Elite was launched after May 1st 2012 therefore will be subject to the new rate plan on the 27th of May 2012.

This is why I have a beef with them.

I have thought of the Triumph as it isn't affected but I have read too many bug stories.

This is their clarification statement as there was a lot of confusion. This supersedes the text:

Learn about new Beyond Talk device upgrade rules

....and you upgrade to a Beyond Talk Smartphone launched after May 1, 2012...

This is their clarification statement as there was a lot of confusion. This supersedes the text:

Learn about new Beyond Talk device upgrade rules

....and you upgrade to a Beyond Talk Smartphone launched after May 1, 2012...
Doesn't matter anyhow, I'm getting the Evo V

Makes sense ~ decent upgrade. More than I need though. Happy with my Optimus V and Tablet.

"Beginning May 27, 2012 if you are using the $25, $40, or $60 Beyond Talk plan and you upgrade to a Beyond Talk Smartphone launched after May 1, 2012*, you will need to switch to the $35, $45, or $55 Beyond Talk plan.

When you switch plans, you will need to pay for your new plan and you will lose any minutes, messages, and money in your balance. This will also change your monthly payment date. So if you are considering upgrading to a new smartphone, we recommend that you wait until right before your next monthly payment date to activate.

*The following smartphones launched before May 1, 2012 and are therefore not subject to the new device upgrade rules at this time: Venture, LG Optimus Slider, HTC Wildfire S, Motorola Triumph, LG Optimus V, Blackberry Curve 8530."

From my official portal.
