Default Should I wait until the end of the month before I switch over to my new EVO V 4G?

So I jumped on the $239 EVO V 4G deal [minus an extra $22.50 or so from FatWallet] and it is just sitting on my table waiting to be used.

I think I remember reading somewhere that one should wait until just before the end of the month before switching over to a new phone because VM will not credit you for part of the month?

Is that true? I would like to take the EVO V 4G for a spin instead of waiting.

EDIT: Yes, I am leaving my grandfathered $25/month plan with the Optimus V.

It is a matter of which VM plan you are using. If you are on a grandfathered plan (like the $25 plan) then when you switch to the Evo you will start a "new month" since you have to switch to the $35 plan. If you are already on the $35 plan, then switching phones will not cause you plan month to restart, since you do not need to change plans.

I called in and VM did issue me a partial credit, but that could vary depending on the CS rep that answers your call. I was on the $25 plan, and I made the switch back when the EVO was first released.
