Default Virgin Mobile vs RadioShack and Cricket

Looks like RadioShack using Cricket wireless is going to offer its own prepaid wireless service. Their $25 plan is very comparable to Virgin's $35 plan. Is anyone going to jump ship? it's good to have competition. Some people have reported that the $25 virgin plan is again accessible on some devices. Perhaps Virgin is rethinking their pricing strategy.

They are not really comparable, because the way I am reading it, is that their $25 & $35 plans are only for feature phones. The cheapest smartphone plan is $50.

Yes, apparently so. They signed a five year agreement for Sprint to provide 3G service in August 2010.

Does not seem like a great deal, only two phones are currently offered and, as pointed out, the minimum monthly rate for the smartphone (for 1GB data before throttle) is $50.

That in and of itself would be a deal breaker for me.

Me thinks who ever it was at Cricket that made that decision must of still been suffering a severe hangover and still under the influence.

talk about being at end of the line at the sprint tower......even vm and boost are ahead of you, but they are behind sprint contract/postpaid customers.
