Angry Has anyone been able to successfully deactivate a phone with VM?

The signal just sucks in my area so I don't want to use it anymore. I took my payment info off the site back in August or September, so I'm not being charged, but they are sending me several emails every month (in fact, several a day sometimes) about my charge being due. I emailed and can only deactivate over the phone, but when I call there's no option for deactivation and none of the options I pick lead to that or to a human. After about 45 minutes I gave up. Anyone else ever manage to deactivate with them? Any advice?

When I switched to AT&T a while back I just stopped paying. Never heard from them again until they sent me a free month to come back to them, which I foolishly did.

The easiest way to close your account is to transfer your number to a new phone, since they use your phone number as your account number.

Yeah when you're a customer they don't want to know you but when I canceled my second phone they sent me a code for $15 and when I didn't respond to that a week later they sent me one for a free month.

I sold my phone on ebay and the person who bought it couldn't activate it because the old account was still on it. Once I jumped through 1000000000 hoops to speak to a real person, I told them the situation and they deactivated the account in minutes.
You could always tell them you sold it to someone who can't activate it until the current account is deactivated.

I believe you can change the email address associated with the account pretty easily. I don't recall them sending any kind of verification link to the new address. So that would stop the emails if you change it to some bogus address.

Otherwise I think they release your number after 90 days of non-payment, if you can wait it out.

It's been longer than 90 days already. My last payment was in August. I finally posted on their facebook page and after I sent them some info, they deactivated it. I'm still getting other VM emails though, so I need to unsubscribe from them.
