Does anyone know how long the wait time is, I requested an unlock code 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for the code. Vodafone just tell me it's pending but they don't know how long it will take, they say they have had a lot of unlock requests for the wildfire and this is why it's taking a long time.

I requested mine last weekend online and was told it costs £19.99 and can take up to a week. Went instore and they requested the code for free telling me it would take 72 hours but can take up to 6 weeks. So far no code. I reckon they make us wait hoping we might think lets stay with Vodafone!

I did mine over the phone, had to top up £20 and they took that as payment. Not much chance of me going with vodafone. At present I get 300 mins plus 500 texts and added internet (not sure how much) for just £15 a month on 3. It would cost me £25 with vodafone.

Decent deal you got, I get crap 3 coverage where I am so couldn't have that. I've got the same but with O2 for £20, 300mins, unlimited text, 500mb data, on simplicity 30 day rolling contract so if anything better comes along I can jump ship. Surprised they made you top up the £20 for the code though.
Same problem here. I've been waiting a week having paid my £20. When I phoned to chase them up, the first person I spoke to said it was out of their hands and told me to ring HTC. The person at HTC sounded extremely fed up with Vodafone and suggested I ring them back and ask for someone who knew what they were talking about. I did this and got the story about high demand. Apparently we're all buying the £130 phone from Argos and then asking for an unlock code. Or could they just be stalling so that we buy more top-ups from them while we're waiting?

HTC have sold their handset, they've made their money, they're not bothered what sim card you put in their handset. Of course its Voda stalling in the hope you/we decide to stay with them

Have you received your code yet? You requested it a week before I did.

Nothing. Going back to the store tomorrow to see what the hold up is. To be fair to them they said I should receive it in 72 hours but can take up to 6 weeks. It's frustrating but end of the day I bought the phone nice n cheap so if I have to wait for the 6 weeks its not the end of the world. Thats what I keep telling myself anyway lol!

so the actual fone costs £130 and then £10 top up then £20 to unlock so overall cost = £160 for HTC wildfire

is is worth that much?
The overall cost was actually £150 as the £20 unlock charge included the original £10 top-up, so I only had to top-up an extra £10 for the unlock. Argos were also giving 2 X £10 vouchers for any purchase over £100, so the net cost was £130 for an unlocked phone (if they ever give me the code). SIM free phone on Amazon or Play.com - £225. Worth it to me.
While I've tried other networks I find Vodafone to be the best for coverage in Scotland, although not happy that no 'bolt ons' available until recently.
Bought Wildfire for £140 (replacing unlocked Samsung Jet) did not force topup in the shop but bought a £10 topup online with Voda's new 'freebees'.
The package I choose has £10 credit, always there, plus 300mins and 500mb data, which is removed if not used up in 30 days.
I'm not a heavy user but thought this was a good flexible deal given the good coverage I get, phone displays 'H' most of the time so HSPDA available.
Went back to the Voda store and they had my unlock code waiting, they unlocked it for me there and then, tested it with another sim card, and I never even paid the £20 fee. Actually thinking of moving from O2 to Voda as they seem a lot more helpful.

hi all,
not really sure about all this hitech stuff but just bought htc wildfire from argos locked to vodaphone, after reading about some dodgy unlock sites on here last night i tried www.mobilefreedom.net, it cost me £23 but my phone was unlocked within 10 mins....code sent by text and email, great site would recommend!
You can get the unlock code from network provider or from online provider...You have to wait for long time if you get the code from network provider. If you want the code immediately, you can get it from online providers..Here i found the site www.mobile-unlocker.com which provide unlock code immediately and i unlocked easily from network lock..If you want you can get it from here..For more details visit here...
