Default Should I move to Vodafone from O2?

I moved to O2 from Virgin 2 years ago when got my HTC Desire. I have an Online simplicity 20 12 Month contract at £20.42 per month, which gives me 800 minutes, 1600 texts, (Ďrealí) unlimited data, free voicemail. Plus in the UK can use my text allowance to send picture messages (1 picture message = 5 texts) and abroad I can use my text allowance to send texts or picture messages (1 text or picture message = 5 texts)

However, I have just come across a SIM-only deal with Vodafone for £20.50 per month (but can get £120 back through Quidco, taking monthly cost down to only £10.50 per month for 1 year) for a 12mth contract giving, each month, 900 minutes, 3000 texts, 500 MB data, 750MB BT Openzone Wi-Fi access, 100 picture and video messages. With Vodafone passport you can use inclusive minutes to make and receive calls while abroad for a 75p connection charge.

Now this looks like a great deal to me but have no idea if Vodafone are as good a company as O2, particularly with regard to Customer Service, coverage (I live and work in Edinburgh) etc, something which is important to me and which O2 are great at. I just got my unlock code from O2 for free some 16 hours after requesting it!

I am also concerned about the meagre 500MB data allowance for a Smart Phone and that if I donít like Vodafone and want to move back to O2 at the end of the year they might have no deals like the one I currently have - O2 isnít very competitive at the moment and their prices are very high compared to the other providers. I was previously with Virgin/T-mobile and I know that I canít get a signal at work with either of them and my son had lots of signal problems with Orange and didnít like their customer service.

So do I ditch and switch or stay? Is there anyone with experience of both companies who can offer any advice? Do you reckon this short term switch would be worth doing in the long run or am I better off long term keeping my current O2 contract? The vodafone/quidco offer is only on until Sunday so not long for me to decide!

Thanks for advice (sorry its long!).
