Default Upgrading phone O/s after rooting?

A little while ago I rooted the wife's HTC Wildfire on Tesco (O2) using Unrevoked so that I could put Thai fonts onto the handset. All is well with the handset and the Thai fonts are fine.
If I now upgrade the phone operating system from 2.1 to 2.2 through the normal HTC software update tool, will she lose the Thai fonts or is the upgrade non-destructive?

You should never use an OTA update once rooted. In fact you should go to settings/about phone/software updates and uncheck the box that says "Scheduled Check".

The reason for this is once a phone is rooted, installing an OTA update can seriously screw up your phone.

If you want 2.2 on your phone, it's far better to install a custom rom.

A list of Wildfire roms are available in this thread over at XDA Developers.
