Unlock Bootlader version update?

So I'm trying to root my Wildfire S and signed up to HTCDev.

When I try to update the ROM, it says I am updating from:

Image Version 2.26.401.3

to

Image Version 2.17.0.0

Is this right? It feels like it's taking a step backwards instead of updating

It's more the HBOOT version. If your HBOOT is already one of the 2 mentioned above, you can totally skip the ruu update.
