Hi, I've got mine on T-mobile and it's also got annoying T-mobile boot screens and firmware, do you know how to get rid of that too?
I'll give the unlocking a go tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
I think you need HTC Sync(amongst other things) to Debrand. The current version of HTC Sync isn't compatible with the Wildfire and HTC are currently updating the software. I am also interested in doing this and would be happy to receive more qualified advice.
Sorry to hijack the thread somewhat, but i've been having trouble unlocking my wildfire, also tied to T-Mobile.
I've taken the handset into my local phone unlocking shop who have told me that the IMEI request to the HTC server is coming back as 'code rejected' or words to that effect.
Is it wise to try elsewhere or am I stuck with a lemon ?
I get the feeling if I try elsewhere it's going to be the same result...assuming these unlocking shops all use the same resources...hmmmm
Just an update, have given the htc unlock website you mentioned a go.
3 hours and not a sausage from them.
Really don't understand how this all works, spoke to T-Mobile who the phone is locked to and they said the manufacturers don't release the codes for 3 months, but then I don't see how other people have got their handsets unlocked
Did you input your IMEI number as well, sorry if these questions seem basic. I spoke to a person recently who ordered the code but never went back to the site with their details.
Got an email back eventually with a refund from paypal and an explanation as to what happened.
It turns out the handset was manufactured very recently and the code isn't available yet from HTC, they told me it takes around 3 - 6 weeks from the actual manufacture date for the codes to be uploaded onto the HTC database.
Guess i'll just use my old phone and give it another try in a week or two!
Well the price HTCsimUnlock.com are charging is brilliant, but can anyone confirm, that after the phone has been unlocked, do any future updates effect the unlock?
Will the phone get locked again if you update to say 2.2?
Have to say, my son has a desire, and I have the Xperia X10 on both orange and voda. But after having ago with his desire, I decided I needed to get an htc, saw the wildfire in the 3 shop and was taken with it straight away, and at £199.99 on PAYG was a great deal.
So now have a wildfire, and will be selling the Xperias to fund either a Nexus one or a desire.
It's not a software flash for the handset, it's an unlock code from the phone manufacturer so the handset im 99.9% certain will be perfectly fine for you to do whatever the hell you want with it
Just be warned, if your handset is super new manufacturing date the codes are almost impossible to come by right now. I've now tried several places online and local stores. I've just given the premium, super new unlock service mentioned above a go and will post results here.
HTCsimunlock actually worked out around £15 with the processing fee of a couple of pounds, when my phone came back blank for a code they wanted another $15 and another paypal processing fee to do a "deep search"...no thanks.

Finally...finally, unlocked it through the website that posted a couple of posts up
Any idea how you flash these things ? I'd ultimately like to get it flashed with Three's Wildfire software as i'm a frequent skype user which is partly why I switched networks to Three several years ago.
Well easy enough to download and setup, but have never used skype before so no idea how to call another skype user and no idea what my skype number is.
Seems very little info on the skype site, so any info on how you are meant to use this service would be good from anyone who is a skype user.
i got a wildfire from three and i want to unlock it. Just could you let me know that after unlocking my handset, does it affect to using skype on my handset? i want to use my three network for couple of months after unlocking, so there will not be problem using skype, isn it? thanks mates
Hi, I would like to buy the Wildfire from Amazon but it doesn't really says if it unlocked or not...
For every other HTC phone it is clearly stated on the title, but not for this one.
How about Carphone Warehouse, would a Wildfire from there be unlocked?
Pay as you go phones from The Carphone Warehouse are unlocked.
If you are on a t-mobile contract, they will send you the unlock code for £15. (The fee will be on your next bill). You have to be on your current contract for three months.

I got my wildfire from carphonewarehouse and it was totally unlocked, try the sim first as I had a tattoo from vodafone, had the voda boot screen but still took a tmobile sim in it, just had to change the settings for the internet to tmobile

did your wildfire from CPW have a network logo on it, or was it unbranded? and how much was it?
Found this thread very useful when trying to get my HTC wildfire unlocked so just thought i'd post a bit of info.
I first went into town to get my fone unlocked at a local mobile shop, he said it would be £25 if my unlock code was on the old database or £40 if it was on the new one.
Not wanting to get ripped off i had a look online for something cheaper.
After finding this site i tried HTCsimUnlock.com, i payed them the £13 but after an hour when i checked, it said it was unable to find my code because either the IMEI number had been changed or the phone was 'too new'.
I did manage to get an instant refund from HTCsimUnlock.com.
Next time i buy a fone off ebay i'll make sure its unlocked, hey ho u live and learn ha. Hope this helps anyone else trying to get their fone unlocked.

hey thanx for info, and how much did you get your phone for of Ebay? and is it unbranded?
Found Mobile Unlocked (MU)whilst doing a search to try and get my HTC Wildfire on T-Mobile unlocked. After reading the reviews, I decided they seemed genuine enough to have a go. At first attempt, MU were unable to supply a code, which I half expected to be the case as the Wildfire is hard to unlock if it is less than 3 months old. MU refunded my money instantly, but asked that I try again using a different, slightly longer method (1-2 days rather than 15 mins). This I did and again initially this didn't work, but MU didn't give up. They tried a more expensive method, didn't charge me a penny more and were able to supply the code. Excellent, excellent and excellent. Thank you MU!
Need your expert help. I have got a HTC Wildfire on Tesco network yesterday, and it does not accept my voda sim.
Tried the htcsimunlock.com (including upgrade to deep search) and MobilesUnlocked.com, but both sent me an email saying can't find the code. Both have sent me an email saying they will refund the money. Got to see how true is that.
I am planning to try the high street store tomorrow. Any advise will be well appreciated.
Should I return the phone. Will tesco accept after opening the box?
I tried there but got ripped off, they could not find my code, so wanted anothe $20, i went for a refund instead of paying another $20, but never got my money back. i emailed them about 6 or 7 times and just got some crappy spam like advert in reply.
Your IMEI unlock order for ############ could not be delivered because no unlock code could be found in the relevant database for the IMEI submitted or unlock tool chosen.
One of our staff will take a look at your order to see if something went wrong or if there's another way we can get your code with this tool. If you don't hear from us within 24 hours, you can consider this order cancelled"
also tried a guy off ebay last nite and got a code that didnt work, and got a refund today.
update -after the above response i got another email from the above company saying i could have a refund or they would keep trying and email every day untill code was updated and supplied. Much to my delight the code came thru about tea time tonight and it works a treat !
I tried to get my HTC Wildfire unlocked through HTCSimUnlock.com. I received an email within 15 mins saying that they do not have the code and that i should either try the deep search by paying extra or get an refund by logging into my account.
I can't log in to my account - every time I try it says 'Your order was already submitted'. No sign of an 'automatic' refund either - something they promise on their website!!
WARNING against HTCSimUnlock.com - stay well clear!!
Seems funny to me how two or three people posting praise for mobileunlocked have very low or 1 post mmmmmmmmmmmm
I have no association to said website and only posted the above info to help other people, as i was having difficulty unlocking my phone. I think the problem being it was infact 'too new'.
The reason i have a low post count is ive never unlocked a phone before or had an android phone, so ive pretty much never had a reason to ever come on this forum.
newbie here,
i've just bought a htc wildfire on 3 , yesterday i decided to try the above mentioned htcsimunlock, gutted that i got a email back within 10 minutes to say unable to find a code and if i want the exclusive deep search etc... which i dont think i'l bother with, but how quickly does the automaticrefund get refunded? ,it tells you login to contact them but when i login it just says in bold writing your order was already submitted
munjal have you had your refund yet?
any info much appreciated

I bought a HTC wildfire from Vodafone on my contract, but when I put another sim it allows me to call and receive calls on the new number. However, the signal bar has an R on top of it, I called vodafone to ask them but they suggest that they can't comment on it as I have another carriers sim in the phone.
I was wondering if any one has had this with other operators? Also if you have more information of how I will be charged from the other operater.
The hardware of the HTC Wildfire isn't exactly 'jaw dropping,' but still great for an 'entry-level' handset for folks on a budget. Specs include a 5 MP camera with geo-tagging & auto-focus, 3.2" inch capacitive that sup... Read More
