Default *PLEASE HELP* HTC sync error (1001)

Hey everyone. I bought a htc wildfire today, and have been trying to sync it for 3 hours. Everytime I try I get a "warning" saying the "device is not ready or there was no response. (error 1001)" does anyone have ANY WAY at all of me fixing this?

Have you enabled USB debugging?
Settings>Applications>Development>[tick] USB Debugging

Default Same issues

Hi, I have the same issues. USB debugging connected. When I try to sync my contact I got the error 1000. Help !!!

I was having the same issue with my HTC desire after downloading the updated HTC Sync. I downloaded with the antivirus still in place. I had to uninstall the program and reinstall with antivirus off and am now having no problem at all.
