Mine says it is a Wonder Media WM8650, Android version 2.2 and I basically bought it as a cheap alternative to my dad's Kindle, as I have thousands of ebooks, most in PDF format, which I didn't want to sit in front on my desktop computer to read.
However, I have no clue how to transfer the books from the cd's they are on to the tablet.
I did try connecting the tablet to my pc opening up the cd and just copying a file across to the tablet. The computer showed it as being on the tablet but I could not find it in the actual tablet...?
Can anyone help me - but please be aware that I am not very technologically minded so speak slooooooowly!!!!!
Many thanks for any help offered.
First off, welcome to Android Forums!
Second, do you have a file browser on the tablet? If I remember correctly, there should be an app that came with the device that allows you to search the tablet for files located on the SD card and the internal memory of the device. Look there in ALL of the files to see where the books are. I would assume they might be in the "download" file if anywhere or on the root of the SD card (root of an SD card is the first place you will be when you open your SD card's contents. Among the files should be "DCIM", "download", and a few others. That is the root of your SD card.) If your tablet is like mine (the Blue LED 3G one), there will be TWO icons when you open your tablet in Windows/Mac/etc. One of these takes you to the SD card of your tablet (when connected to the computer using the USB cable) and the other is the internal memory. If it's on the internal memory, use that same file browsing app and look under the internal memory for your files.
If that doesn't work, you may need an app to open the files. Which file type are the books in? Most of my e-books are in .pdf format which can be opened using Adobe Acrobat Reader. If yours are in .pdf format, look around for an app that can read these files by searching "pdf reader" in Market. If your tablet did not come with Android Market, you can search Google for "Android Market" and find the place to download apps from the web to your computer then transfer over to your tablet and install. Once you've put them on your tablet, use the above steps to search for the app install files (in .apk format) and simply click them once on your tablet and tell your tablet to install the apk file. If you installed the reader, most will give you the ability to search your tablet and SD card for e-books and then automatically find those files for you, leaving you with one less step to go through.
If you need any more help, please feel free to give me a message or ask away here or again through WM's section!
