Is the device itself new, or new to you as you said?
The reason I ask is, I was looking around for a solution, and of course there were alot of "do a factory reset, and immediately setup your gmail account" statements.
Well, doing a factory reset will wipe all your settings/texts/pictures/apps etc.
So I don't know if that was an option for you or not.
