2. Copy the *.ftf files that you `ve downloaded earlier to firmwares folder from Flashtool.
3. Click "Flash" button from flashtool and select the *.ftf file firmware and click "OK"
4. Relax and wait a while. When the proccess is completed you will get a popup message (don`t click on that!!!)

On popup message press "OK" button g. When "Found at USB/........" appear on flash tool you may release "back button", sit down, relax and wait.

In this post i will explain and demonstrate how simple it is to play with our phones with this incredible tool provided by Androxyde and Bin4ry.
1. ROOT ACCESS
To gain root acces it`s quite easy. Just have to do this:
1. On your phone check "debbuging mode" on Setting > Applications > Development 2. Plug you USB cable 3. Open your flashtool and click on Root box 4. Wait a few seconds and your phone will rebbot 5. Voilá
2. CLEAN SE JUNK
Now this is where it can get tricky. Remember this: DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! On next post i will provide a list of witch apps you can delete. without messing your phone.
1. On your phone check "debbuging mode" on Setting > Applications > Development 2. Plug you USB cable 3. Open your flashtool and click on Clean box. If you can`t do that press on Ask Root Perms before. 4. Now from the new window you just have to choose witch apps you want to install/remove. It can`t be more simplier
NOTE: If you don`t want to loose the possibility of the phone automatically acquire APN settings, please remove ReadyToRun file from the top right window (it will remove by default).
Also install a home replacement before you delete SE Home Launcher
5. Once you're done just press on the OK button.
info: All chages you made here will affect how system will work. All apps will be instaled/removed on system/app folder. The only way you can remove files from here is by using thridparty apps (like TitaniumBackup) or this tool.
3. CUSTOMIZE
This is another great option of this tool. With this you can install all your *.apk files in just one click. To do that:
1. Copy your *.apk to FlashTool > custom > apps 2. On your phone check "debbuging mode" on Setting > Applications > Development 3. Plug you USB cable 4. Press Customize button on flashtool 5. That´s it...dificult, hã?
3. OPTIMIZE
What does this do? Simple. Install JIT on your phone
And what the hell is JIT? See THIS
In another words. On stock rom you`ll get 450 (more or less) and after applying this you`ll get 650 (more or less) on bechmark tests.
1. On your phone check "debbuging mode" on Setting > Applications > Development 2. Plug you USB cable 3. Press Optimize button on flashtool 4. Your phonne will reboot
4. ADVANCED MENU
From here you can do some tweaks on your phone.
Install xRecovery from zdzihu to install/backup rom´s and more
Play with build.prop - be carefull with this!!! for some tweaks see THIS post
note: If you had any issues with xRecovery (X10 HD) please go HERE and download xRecovery-0.2-X10HD-release.apk fix by zdzihu.

Just a quick question. I have a X10i - 2.1 update 1 2.1.A.0.435
Is it ok to use = DDED: X10a _2_1_A_0_435 with DualTouch
The difference being X10a and I have a X10i.
I'm a new comer to the X10 so I just want to be sure.
Yes you can install that firmware version without any problems.
that's the good thing about this program and firmwares. You can always have the last version dispite your original firmware doesn't have a update yet.
Can I use the flash tool to root the phone only (without having to go through the flash process?)
I don't think I need to flash / debrand the phone. I have only had the phone for 2 weeks and have ran the offical SE update from 1.6 to 2.1 via PC companion.
Phone info = X10i <> 2.1-update1 <> Base 2.1.54 <>Kernel 2.6.29 <> Build 2.1.A.0.435

It seems that you already have the latests firmware so there's no need flashing again.
Of course you can root without flash. You can do all of the existing possibilities independently.

Amigo, gostaria de saber se você poderia me ajudar em conseguir o framework original da VIVO para o aparelho X10.
Obrigado.
Sorry for my late response
You can do it yourself this way:
1. Flash your phone to get the latest version;
2. On PC go to C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\13740270\blob_fs
3. Copy FILE_something around 150mb to any place;
4. Copy FILE_something around 15mb to any place;
5. Open flashtool and then: Advanced > Decript Files. Choose your files folder.
How the hell do I use this Flashtool to ONLY root my phone?
I've just updated to .435 and followed the instructions above to root which seem simple enough, but Flashtool just states:
"ERROR - Please connect your device and enable USB debugging.
I haven't done any of the previous steps to the rooting advice above because I don't want to actually flash my phone - I just want to root it!
I've also tried Superoneclick v1.55 but that kicks out an error and I can't seem to find any comprehensive instructions on how to use this "Superoneclick".
Been trawling the internet for over an hour now and am going round in circles.

Thanks all,
Did you upgrade to 2.1? Dont know if it work on 1.6..
But its pretty simple, turn off USB debugging, plug in the phone and click root. Should take a few sec.... Im no expert on this but thats how it worked for me. Im still trying to figure out all this custom rom stuff. So I just run a rooted 2.1 on stock ROM.
Device(s): x10a 2.3.3 (with x10i ROM from T.E.A.M. ROM V4.0)

Do you have a At&T phone with no USB debugging option? No option for Unknown Sources?
I flashed my x10a with the link you posted of the build "X10a _2_1_A_0_435 with DualTouch already in for ALL apps" and everything works fine for now, except the dual touch. There is no multitouch zoom on the pictures or on angry birds (the only apps I've tried). Do you know what went wrong or how can I fix it?

BTW, thanks for the guide
Hi
For the picture issues did you try on mediascape? On that doesn't work due app limitation.
On Angry birds...not sure
the (i) ot (a) it´s related to firmware and not to baseband. if you want to change to (i) you must install another FW (i.e. 435)

I'd like to ask for some help. I was trying to root an Xperia X10a (branded to Rogers in Canada) and somehow something went wrong. The phone was on GB through a SEUS update (last week).
Clearly I was using the wrong method (somehow the xda thread I first found was an older method that wasn't applicable to Gingerbread and I didn't realize that before doing the procedure) and now the phone is bricked. I've read several places that this phone is really hard to completely brick but as of now nothing I do seems to bring it back.
Most (if not all) guides on how to unbrick the Xperia X10 say to use FlashTool to do it (flashing back a stock 2.1 ROM) but what all guides fail to mention is, how do I do this without being able to put the phone in USB debugging mode and turning on Unknown Sources from the Applications menu???
I tried flashing several different ROMs through FlashTool but the process always ends up with a message asking me to put the phone in Debugging and Unknown Sources mode. I can't do that, it won't boot. Just a black screen with occasional screen flickering.
I tried putting back the stock firmware on it through SEUS and SE PC Companion, it seems to complete the process (says update successful at the end) but the phone still won't boot.
So... what are my options? Is there any way to flash using FlashTool *without* USB debugging and Unknown Sources mode? Or do I just set fire to the phone and buy a new one?

Since USB debugging and unknown sources don't come into play until you've already flashed the phone, yes you can. The key is going to be finding the complete rom in ftf file...when I first rooted my phone and attempted to flash WB rom, I mistakingly flashed a full GB rom instead of just the baseband and kernel like I was supposed to. The result was that I had stock GB, unrooted. I deleted the file when I realized what I had done but if I find it online I'll get it for you
