uhm hi. so I rooted my phone, got rid of a few pesky trial apps and want it unrooted again... since, I don't see the point of keeping it rooted. I've followed your guide, but like your guide says the superuser warning comes up. Do I flat out ignore it and wait, or should I click the ok button? Thanks!

another thing: If I keep it rooted and 2.1 comes out, does it unroot by itself or does it stay rooted? or.. am i stuck in 1.6 till unrooted? Thanks again.

Ah, thanks very much Suhel. I guess I'll just wait for Eclair then, as improbable as it may be. How's Eclair on X8 by the way? How much better is it than Donut? Anything new that's worth getting excited or at least happy over? Sorry for the questions, I just don't think I'll be getting Eclair in a long, long time (maybe even past the phone's life cycle, judging by my country's tech standards). I don't mind the wait, as I usually use phones as long as they're usable and not broken yet. But I'm curious what Eclair does for X8. ^_^

You can get update even if its not available in your country...

Secondly, eclair is okish apart from the browser and launcher pro its not worth updating..

I'll rate the update 2.5 out of 5 :-)

before I tell you anything further check this :

1. have you updated to 2.1?
2. is your debugging mode ON?

Rooting for 2.1 just got out (over at XDA's). But from my understanding it's very difficult to do so we have to wait a bit more.

Thx so far...there wont be any easier way to flash 2.1 in the future?

This two versions seem to be too complicated to me...superoneclick would be perfect...

Will this tool be released for 2.1, too? If it wont be released well than i need to do it "the easy way"

both the methods are simple its just the text that makes it look complicated

once you'll try it you'll find it relatively easy

I think the phone should have come with 2.1 since India was one of those countries which got the upgrade first.. If it is not running 2.1, install SE update service and update your phone dude.

PS. If u like playing with ur phone a lot, Root your phone and install add on's to enjoy using your device.Or buy a phone wic has 2.2 in it.. Galaxy 3 and Lg Optimus one ( know as lg Optimus P500 Thunder in India)

Many reports of malfunctioning WiFi/Bluetooth after rooting the 2.1. I guess I need to wait for a more stable process.

Hello, I'm a newbie in the android business, just got my X8 a week back. I have the same problem as this guy:

I downloaded this:

saved it on my desktop, extracted it on my desktop. This is probably a stupid question, but what do I do with it now? Despite my SD card being unmounted, my PC still detects my X8 fine.

To answer your question (to be able to answer mine),

2. Yes, made sure twice

Does having a 2.1 mean I have to do this root guide?

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

As long as you only rooted it and didn't change your firmware or debrand the phone then running SEUS should return the phone to a 'Warranty' condition.

hello all

i have tired of what it said in post one of this topic...

eg enabled debuggin on my phone, unmounted the sdcard. downloaded and extreated the superoneclick program attached to the first post of this topic
clicked on root, after the program loaded. and it was working for the start and then it keeping giving me the messages and so on, then the usb keeped re connecting,
can anyone help

u can find a log of the program at my site at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.pude/superoneclick.txt

Note to all. the above link is not to promte my site, just a location that i safely store logs...

edition: i tried it again, eg i did the following. copyed the sdcard data to my laptop, did a factory reset. and then used the program again it worked but when it said rooting complete and then said phone is now rooted, i went to the phone, user root checker and that said it isnt rooted,..

a new update
i have mangnaged to get root access...

heres how i did it
Note: When u connected the USB to the pc and to the phone, make sure the usb debugging option is ticked, as it said in the beginning of this topic...

1, i downloaded the old superoneclick.
2. downloaded the "mount /system (rw/ro) " and "Root Checker" programs from the android market..
3. in Mount /system (rw/ro) i used the mount r/w button.
4. on the pc i loaded superoneclick and clicked on root. now this was susessful.
5. on my phone, loaded Root Checker, and checked to see if its got root access.

bear in mind i had to do a few reboots on the phone, and also do a factory reset twice.

don't forget that the superoneclick will install a few programs like superuser,
hope that helps everyone,, if any problems with the way i done it let me know
