Hi,

with 006a ROM version you have to update the ROM first
then install the google apps
then install the live wallpaper.

BUT

there are many reports now that the battery management is not implemented properly 50% battery drain in 5 hours of use

Any news about the battery life on your phone with the J006a ROM?

i am waiting for a better version of his ROM

cheers

Hi,

So sorry to hear that your phone was "bricked" by the new busybox

You are in a similar situation with Blitzkri3g see his post... and follow the thread.

Blitzkri3g's Post <-- here

Also have a look at this thread How to rescue our bricked phone <-- here

Lesson to learn here is once you have setup a specific rom (floyo or gingerbread) DO NOT update your busybox

cheers

Why don't you run 2.2.1 floyo Rom ? I think it is the most stable Rom avaliable atm.

Hi,

Might be a old version widget that is not supported by 2.3.3.
or
Your widget has been installed on your SD Card. For some reason (I don't know why???) widgets will not work if you installed/move them to SD Card. So the solution might me to install and move the app to phone <settings><Manage applications><select app><Move to phone> - now <tap-hold> homescreen <select><widgets> is your widget on the list?

Some widgets I have downloaded from Market did not work so I just move on to the others. I am really not a widgets user.

cheers

You are asking silly questions ! xRecovery is a must have ! so is busybox it is pre-rooted, but it still has the bug, which makes your device to restart after closing root apps :/

I am still running v1 :P It looks there will be more updates comming so I think it is pointless to install every update

To bal27: read through the forum, you can find the build.prop file Just push it via adb to your /system/ and you are done

Just install with Astro normally and you will get an <upgrade> option.
Just hit that and everything will work.

Hi Mr Gabeyong! I am being thank you again and again. I have ported
[ROM] Srom-2.3.3GingerbreadX8-V2 by stelios97&zousoum96 to my x8 by reading your guide. It is awesome except FM not working.
I have a question to ask you. Why Mod version is srom-2.3.3gingerbread-v1(x8) and Build number is v1? I am sure I have ported
[ROM] Srom-2.3.3GingerbreadX8-V2 by stelios97&zousoum96.

@ gabeyong

Thats awesome, 2.3.3 was stable indeed but i decided not to keep it for now coz i cant stand the fact that everything isnt perfectly functional on my phone...
Anyway restoration worked fine except for the android market. Idk why, but everytime i try to run android market it crashes. Any ideas? Thnx btw

PS. I restored exactly as you said, without wiping first. maybe i should have done this right?

PS2. Ignore the previous. Wipping and restoring fixed that

i really stupid in software.. so i tried the step u provide
1st i root x8
-install Root.Explorer.v2.15.apk
-copy the xRecovery folder with the 3 files inside to root of SD Card
-copy the 3 files (busybox, chargemon and xrecovery.tar) to </system/bin>
-reboot the phone and back up
-reboot again and copy floyo-0.20 folder with 4 files (cache.img, data.img, nandroid.md5 and system.img) into /SD/xRecovery/backup
-reboot and restore floyo-0.20 ROM from the xrecovery menu
-after done reboot again
at the end the phone start up and show "sony ericsson" screen and "hackdroid" screen and it keep repeat this 2 screen.. seems like the phone won't start..

Hi,

check your baseband
if your baseband ends with 006 you cannot use any Custom ROMs
go to racht's post and download + flash 015 baseband.

Default Thats great

[QUOTE=gabeyong;2431171]Hi,

Now that you have got a rooted Xperia X8, installed xRecovey, JIT and Link2SD, Live Wallpapers and everything is working fine...

What's next? Playing games, using widgets and apps?

SONY Ericsson has officially stop developing Android OS for the Xpedia X8.
Eclair 2.1.1. is the last software update.

Wondered what it would be like to run Gingerbread 2.3.3 on your Xpedia X8?

Hi gabeyong, the 2.3.3 is great news. Congratulations. I had posted to you earlier about the froyo installation that cam to a screeching halt at the Google registration. That problem got solved when I installed a 2.3....it doesnt directly go to registration. So I could go to wirelesss & networks and enable date. Thanks for everything!
