hi gabe,

I'm new here and a new x8 user. I just got this phone 5 months back. I've tried the custom ROM FroyoBread v023b FINAL, but it didn't support multitouch. So I just upgraded to GingerDX v013 recently. Multitouch is perfect.

I tried v022 a couple of days ago but i don't see much different and multitouch gone. I'm kinda worried to flash the kernel since some said it might brick the phone and just like ur comment above not all apps support multitouch. I reverted to v013. Basically, do u know what is the big different between v013 and v022.

and with v013, I found a few probs not sure anyone of you are facing it too.

1. when you're on the apps list screen, and if u rotate the screen either side, all the apps stack up together on top of each other until u touch the screen.

2. after several reboot of the phone. This thing came up 'SIM Network unlock pin'. I just dismiss it, my phone is working, internet , call and sms all still working. So I just ignore.

3. I tried to configure the phone settings for MMS, but the settings canNOT be sent to my phone. Been trying many times, sms all works fine, but not the phone settings (from the telco). Could it be because of the SIM Network unlock issue?

4. One more thing, Adobe Flash Player not supported by this device, cannot be installed.

other than that, v013 is working perfectly. Happy to have this after several months of 2.1.

Now that the MultiUpload.com server is down, are there alternative links to downloads of the ROM's? Particularly the V22 and V23?

Also, another MOD requires the X8 to be of model #E15i and not supporting E15a, does it matter for your MOD?

Thanks...

Hey gabe.

I have 1 problem.

I followed what you said, flashed, use xrecovery to backup, than to flash cwm recovery, than to use cwm recovery to unpack/update that zip updates that i downloaded to my sd.

First i instaled v023b, and it freezes in loading, when that blue android picture shows.
Than i instaled v023 and i freezes at start up, it just shows "sony ericsson" and it doesn't move from that, it freezes. I can't enter cwm cos of that.

Please help me, i don't know what to do.

Hi,

I think you got an incompatible baseband...
Did you check for baseband xxx.015?

You have to use PC Companion to reinstall your Xperia X8 software.
Check this forum for "unBricking your X8 phone"

Hi,

If you are stuck in a boot loop means that you have an incompatible baseband.

Hi,

make sure you
backup all your apps and
wipe everything... before you flash.

Factory reset (full wipe)
Wipe dalvik cache
Wipe system cache

then you can just use xRecovery to flash the GingerDX rom.

cheers

Hi,

Switch off Xperia X8.
Launch PC Companion
Connect mini USB to Xperia X8
Hold <back> button of Xperia X8 and connect USB to PC

PC Companion should detect your Xperia X8 in recovery mode and re-install your phone's software.

hi, i'm a newbie on android phone..

i tried this rom with alfs-8 kernel and installed adreno lib,
but now my data connection via mobile network is not working.

i'm getting g and h icon on beside my signal bars, but somehow its not connecting.. i've checked my access point settings, its correct.

but when i reflash my phone back to its default SE rom and kernel, the data connection is working fine.

is there any fix for this type of problem??

thanks in advance

This custom rom is based on stock kernel.
So use the stock kernel and everything will be fine.

If you want to use a custom kernel make sure that the custom kernel is coded for the particular custom rom. In this case you need to flash LinuxDX kernel coz it has better compatibility.

Hi,

I have read it is compatible. The truth is I don't really know.

He wants to have the same rom as I have, and I don't want to prevent him from having it also. I'm just afraid I might brick his phone.

anyway, thanks! I'll just read more threads for confirmation.

hi gabe.i have just installed version 24 and i have one observation..after i have installed i planned to reboot the phone..but only two options appeared..its the REBOOT and CLOCKWORKMOD..no more XRECOVERY..,is it okay gabe that Xrecovery has gone?and then i chose the clockworkmod option in rebooting the phone.when i am already there in the interface of clockwormod v5,i look for the ADVANCE option because i remembered that you can reboot it to xrecovery when you're in clockworkmod. And Yes,the option was there to reboot to xrecovery and then i chose it and wait for a while to reboot the phone to xrecovery.but it didn't happened gabe..the phone directly boot to the boot animation.is it normal gabe?or xrecovery has been corrupted?its the only problem i have encountered in v24.,so far so good.i like the theme for ice cream sandwich..it seems that you are already using android 4 when you are using that theme

Hi,

xRecovery can be accessed when you see the SE Logo... then press the <back> button multiple times.

Some ROMs require CWM and some require xRecovery so I would keep both.

Hi Gabe!

ok, im here again haha well I installed the v023 and it worked fine, well, it did but I encountered an issue about the wifi. Well the wifi worked well for some time. But then now my wifi doesnt seem to work fine? Before I can scan and connect to wlans without any problem. Then there came a time that I experience disconnections while using the wifi, which I dont actually experience with other phones. then now, unfortunately, I cant even discover a network (any wlan). Is this case familiar, i mean, did some users also experience it already? Or is it just me? O_o

Thanks for the new updated Rom.

Can I used xrecovery to install the new Rom V25?
I Had installed V23, but feel the performance slower than my 2.1 Android.
Is there any tweaking involved that I missed. I also faced issue when i moved my applications to the SD Card. They simply stopped working...

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
The link to download ClockworkMod Recovery displays an error message
"FileServe can only be used to download and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally."
Is there any other link for the same?
Thanks in Advance

I am using GingerFast v2 at the moment.
But I never stay with one custom rom.
My Xperia X8 is an experimental phone to try new roms.

Hi,

You you did not use the FlashTool to flash a custom kernel then your phone is already on Stock Kernel. If you have flashed a custom kernel, then you need to flash back a stock kernel. Have a look at my flashtool guide.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

You have to use an application called "FlashTool" to install a custom kernel.
