Ok. Thanks for the quick reply I just wanted to know if anything inside it is updated or not besides the supported models. You're doing a good job Keep it up!
I would like to ask a question. Does this method of rooting modify something in my ROM?
I would like to know because my phone is brand new and it's in warranty and I would like to keep it as stock as possible, besides the rooting of course
Ok i'm rooted but only half way.
I'm only r/o in root explore I have tried this method so many times both root
and unroot. un roots ok and no errors during root; comes to the end and says complete sucess etc.
Here,is what i have tried so far
zergRush -> failure
DooMLoRD_v 3 and 4 and
xdx forum on x cover s5690 root
My phone runs the following :
baseband: S5690XXKL1
kernel: 2.6.35.7 official.alkon@androide #23
version number: GINGERBREAD.XXKL1
bootloader: Android System Recovery <3e>
I don't want to use kies /odin3 /superonclick as these methods bricked my last x cover .
I have read of a script clean up on other forms but dont know how to apply it as i'm not a programer . Rooting this phone with the above firmware seems to be a problem .
The sd update seems to be the simplest method I have com across.
PLS
Hope you have a fix for this I do respect the good work from programmers .
i have got the same problem as user before, with the same system version. i get superuser app, but apps showed, that the phone is not rooted. sorry for my poor english

If you have tryed any kind of rooting before this thread. Super one click or anything else please use the unroot method...reboot your phone and then apply the root method
well done stony it worked after with V14 RESPECT to your good work .
Full R/W acess with ES file explorer and ES task manages .
First things first copied out system app folder and backed it up then was able to delete the unwanted apps with the super user app giving permission acess wright away . cheers for the Root .
still not working i unrooted it, restarted, and after it root it again. everything went well, but the apps didnt work. apps gave error message : this phone is not rooted or you didnt give root permissions to ......., and when i want to update the superuser app(Su binari vnull) it cant find the route to is, and the su binari is not found.
Works very easy. But is it possible to move facebook and other none system based applications to sd-card?
Have tried SD Maid, App 2 SD, and 1 tap Cleaner.
But still in a way the phone use the internal memory to the apps that lies on the sd-card. Now I have only 14 MB left on internal memory (getting a warning).
Anyone who knows how to fix this, pleas help me!
An example of a none system based application: Facebook.
The program is located on sd-card but it seams that some part of the application is stored on the internal memory (when it is not running), which is a problem for me because my total internal memory is not to great; only a total of 165.16 MB, and the most of it is used for the system.
It is not possible to move the hole program to sd-card, why? Any fixes to this problem?
Have also cleared cache-storage and other temporary data.
/ Very grateful for this root method, thanks.
/ Thanks in advice

Now everything is fixed for Xcover it should work on all models

Root is just the start you need to make external partition on your SD card and install Link2SD

i tryed the rooting method from above and i think i got it partialy done, it all went well except the fact that when i open SU it says "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it. There is a problem!" and i get an ok button and that's it, it takes me out.
i have a:
baseband: S5690XXLA2
kernel: 2.6.35.7 official.alkon@androide #45

SAME version here, but even if SU gives that message, it in fact works! just have to try for example Root Browser... it asks for SU permissions and voilà!

what happens PRECISELY when you try to enter recovery mode??
Pressed Vol. UP and Home and Power - and holding it until i saw the small android.
Then i choose with vol up and down key apply update from sdcard - ... done. Restarted the device and i had root.
I'm total n00b in phonehacking and rooting so I'm propably missing something really obvious here.
I'm having a lot of issues rooting:
Superoneclick returns klogctl operation not permitted and fails the root.
I've downloaded the universal_gb_root_v23.zip and universal_gb_root_v23b.zip files and transferred them on my sd card. When I try to get in the recovery mode (vol up + home + power) I end up in boot loop. If I press (vol down + home + power) I end up in "odin mode" and the phone does nothing.

Ok let's try like this: Press Volume up + Power button + Home button together. Now when you see the samsung logo for the second time release the Home button and press it again and release the power button.

I have an sgh-t589w. I originally rooted my stock phone with this and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately I got a little overzealous removing apps and the phone wouldn't work. I've installed a custom ROM to get it somewhat functional, but now I'd like to go back to stock and root it again using this software.
I know I'm not supposed to run the unroot on a custom ROM, so where can I find the stock ROM for my phone so I can start over?
tldr; where do I find the stock ROM for the sgh-t589w?

The only issue with the custom ROM I loaded is that wifi doesn't start, just shows error. Otherwise I quite like it
I went on the samsung open source website and built a kernel for the sgh-t589w and grabbed the bcm4329.ko module that it made and replaced the one on my phone with it. But I still get the same error. What else could be the issue?
This zip file worked like a charm. My phone was rooted before I knew it. As this is my first android powered phone, I didn't know how long it would take.
Rooted like a charm. Quick and easy for this total noob. And, when I ****** up my phone because of my terrible curiosity, it un-installed perfectly so I could take it back to rogers and they were none the wiser. hahaha.
Hey guy's! This was fantastic! It works at first try! I have GT-S5690. My advice is to not try to over complicate. It works doing it just simply following the steps written above!
StoneBoyTony ;-) Great thanx!!
I want to root my phone but I can't even download the universal_gb_root_v26.zip file. I've tried different places and I always end up on some fileshare site where I have to wait or can't buy credits because they're closed for the day or I have to fill out som stupid evaluation and if I do nothing happens anyway or I can always sign up for endless ads to my email but that doesn't seem to help either...
So please, help me.
WHERE can I easily download universal_gb_root_v26.zip ???????

Thanks in advance!
Robin.
Only on my website everything is explained in the bottom of the tutorial.
I finally made the download, thank you stoneboy tony but the supersu doesn't ask me to upgrade binary.
I also downloaded and ran universal_gb_c.c.b.s.f_v9.zip to get rid of bloatware (which is why I wanted to root in the first place)
Both root and ccbsf claims to be succesfull after installation in phone but phone is still full of bloat from "3" and I can't uninstall them how ever much I try

It doesn't need need to be updated yet because it is the latest version of supersu and binary implement in the package...now for the bloatware tell me exactly witch firmware you have on xcover I download plenty of firmwares from sammobile I guess i miss that one or it does not exist on sammobile as firmware. One thing to be clarified the package c.c.b.s.f is not created to delete the start up logo, ring tons or wallpaper of the provider is created only to remove the applications extra implemented from the mobile provider.

What I really want is to delete apps I don't use and if possible get rid of wallpaper.
I can promise you this, yesterday I found your firmware and apps will be added and will be removed in my next update of the tutorial in c.c.b.s.f_v10. Now the new update will be 2-3 days after Supersu have a new update from google play. I'm assuming it will be this month or the latest until May/10/2013. Your firmware is brand new the latest from xcover created 3/6/2013 available for download in the end of march. That's why was missing from c.c.b.s.f. but be patient it will be available soon.
