I'm hoping to pick up that one, as long as it will also allow the XOOM to lay flat on its back. It looks like it will, but the only pictures they have are propped up or closed.
Absolutely the Portfolio case. Love that one. Even if for some reason I dont get the Xoom, it will probably work well for the Toshiba or whatever 10.1 inch tablet I get.

Keep in mind that just because the diagonal measurement of the screen is 10.1, the actual length and height of the device may be slightly different. I'm assuming the case is a perfect fit for the XOOM and if another Tablet is just a tiny bit too long or too tall, then it is likely not to fit. Food for thought

Yup - I thought about that. If I get a different tablet I'll just walk into the store with my tablet and see if it fits before buying it.
Thickness can be a factor too, maybe a bigger one.
I just picked up my folio case, the one on best buys website is not the leather one, its the "durable" one. Overall looks like a solid case, but I won't know how it really is until it gets a Xoom put in it tomorrow.
i already have the portfolio ordered and its waiting for me at best buy..
Me too! And one thing to keep in mind, for those buying silicone cases, etc, if you are also thinking about buying one of the Moto docks, I highly doubt that docking will be possible with one of those sleeves on the device. That's why at least for now I'm sticking with the folio, as apparently (according to Best Buy's description) the folio is "Allows you to connect your XOOM to a Motorola Standard or Speaker HD dock without removing the case."

What is the "durable" material? Basically a synthetic of some sort? Any chance you could post a pic or two??
I'll wait until there's something better. I don't like any of the cases Verizon had.
Did they have the portfolio? If so, you did not like it? What was wrong with it? It looks so good in the image. I would be interested in hearing what you did not like about it.
I have the portfolio case. I'm torn. I like it well enough, but I hate how I have to hold it if I want to charge it. For one, it has to be flat. But it's folded wrong, and makes it so that it's floppy. If you fold it so it's nice and flat and feels secure, you don't have access to the charge port.

I was looking at it but decided not to get it. I'm glad I didn't after seeing this video. I'm still waiting for the more beefy cases to come out like Otterbox's defender or something like that.
Wow - that was a disappointment. Thanks very very much for enlightening me on it. I now have a much better idea what I want for a case, and this is not it.
I seriously want to know what happened to the leather version of the portfolio case. There are no signs (other than pictures) of it anywhere. Motorola's website used to (before it was available) list the portfolio case as available in leather and "durable", now it doesn't say anything about different materials.
i returned the folio case today at bby and they had a product called "incase" thats for 10.1 inch netbooks. the xoom slips quietly and safely into this neoprene looking case. im good now..

I took my Xoom to target and officemax, looking for something similar. Thanks!
All the I pad cases I tried were a touch too small.

I needed a sleeve that opened on the side, or in Xoom's case, the bottom so I can just open up the zipper a little bit to access the ports. It has good padding and since the Xoom is a tad wider, the fit is actually quite snug on the sides. There's about 3/4" of free space when you open the zipper since it's made for an iPad but I liked that it's away from the zipper so it doesn't scratch.
I went with the silicon case and got the portfolio in a bundle. i've used both and prefer the silicone case at this point. I'm hoping Zaggs or Ghost Armor will come out with a kit for the device and then I'll probably explore an option that is similar to the portfolio.
Device(s): Droid X, Leaked 2.2.
Xoom with 70 apps that work.

will post back with my impressions when I get it. I think it's going to be a good solution until better cases are released.
well I just received this case and it's going right back. It was obviously not made for the Xoom as it does not fit unless you lay the Xoom in there and then don't touch it. If you try holding it up to read/use the tablet, it slips out of the top two cloth hooks. The Xoom is too heavy for the lower two cloth hooks to support it so it slips out of the top two and tries to fall over forward.

well upon further review it looks like I'll be keeping it. In "real-world" use it doesn't fall out. Just laying it on my lap like I normally would, it works fine. When holding it up, you hold it with your hands(obviously) and that keeps it in place anyway. Material is really nice and the best part is that because it's made of soft material you can press the wake button thru the case. This means you don't have to remove the Xoom to wake it. My main reason for keeping it tho is I need something now AND it keeps dust out.
I'd give it a 7 out of 10

You're welcom. I actually have to downgrade it to a 5 out of 10...it does pop out from under the top two hooks more than I like. For instance if lying down on your back on the couch and holdingit upright in from of you, it wants to pop out.
It was obvioulsly made for the wider iPad Just does not fill the space the way it should due to the Xoom being widescreen rather than 4:3 as the ipad is.

Thanks for pointing this out. I have been looking for a simple slender sleeve. I only wanted something to keep it in while storing it somewhere but all I was finding were ones like the portfolio case that you keep on while using the Xoom. This is exactly what I need just for transport. Wanted it as thin as can be.

I just found a leather folio case for the Xoom here. This was posted on xoomfaq but it is currently on back order but it looks really nice. Sorry for such a large picture but this is from their website.
