How come if my Xoom is rooted, I can't view movies I rent through the Play Store, but I can still access my books and music, and even make them available offline?

Not sure why but it is. I remember once reading where someone even tried zapping the superuser apk file to fix it but to no avail.

From what I've seen Google have checks that ensure the device is stock before allowing playback of the item you've downloaded.

I've personally not seen any way round it. I'm still on Stock ICS myself and have yet to root my Xoom.

You can hide root with SuperSU and watch movies on google play if you are rooted.

The latest update to Google Play Movies enabled playback on rooted devices. Check to make sure you have the update installed.
