I have an Epad with android 2.2 on it, it works fine, does what it says on the box, I tried tethering my phone. I can now use my apple itouch tethered to my phone but cannot get the epad to find the wifi hotspot from my phone.
The display has poor quality ... limited view angle, and lot of "clouds" effect due to not well distributed back light.
3G support is NONE ... seller change the picture of the product stating 3G just before delivery ...
Volume buttons are assigned to other functions ... that people need to learn by guessing.
Andorid 2.2 inside is very UNSTABLE ... around 50% of the application are crashing.
Fring does not recognize the camera and it crash while trying to make a call.
Included Skype is a joke ... just good for IM.
My learning is : just a tablet to give to a 3/4 years old kid for mess around with some simple kids applications.
Quite a waste of money.
You need to get the latest firmware, but fair warning: Android apps are not that good any many are unstable, they are not quality checked like Apple Apps.
The rest is about right, the camera is pointless.
It's fine for browsing and YoutubeHD, and now is used by my 4 yr old.
For those of you that donīt believe that flash is now working the Zt-180 512.
Here is a video on youtube that shows it working on flash sites. YouTube - ZT-180 FLASH IS WORKING
So finally here is the proof since I donīt know how to make youtube videos to show it working on my device.
usual problems.
1. sd card comes up as damaged but is readable/usable in my laptop.
2. fring wont install. says epad is not suited to support it (not those words)
3. battery diabolical 1hour
4. flash downloads go thru the motions but then come up with didnt install when done.
Same old crap, China produces garbage, and you get what u pay for. I'll just go buy an AMERICAN made Apple product, and ill be happy.
{$_$} rg!
Rabidgod,
I think most (maybe all) Apple products are made in China! Just with better material and quality control.
Nobody promised you a perfect equivelant of an iPad. Come back next year when the major manufacturers have polished versions with all the software and hardware kinks worked out. Then you can pay the price(75% of the Apple price) and have good reason to moan if its not perfect.
Hey, you seem to know a few bits about this.
That Penguin he talked about I have seen it on another Android Tab and if im not mistaken that Penguin is the Linux logo.
How is the tab using Linux as well as the Android OS?? doesn't make sense?
Could it be that a counter-fit version of the Android OS need's something else to support it and are using Linux as an open source OS??
I have read the pros and cons and I still want to try this machine. Can you suggest a reputable dealer to buy it from? I checked Merimobile but they currently don't have it in stock. Also, are there any other comparable machines out there for this price range/specs?
Can anybody help how to connect to my home WIFI. When clicking on my WIFI provider on the epad its trying to connect but then disconnects. I am about 1 meter from my router and if have put even a USB lad adapter to the epad to boost the signal. Any help ???

I bought a mini usb lan adapter aswell however mine does not seems to work.
How did you to get it work? did you have to download anything?
The Zenithink site has two files at the links above. Both need to be downloaded via PC and expanded from the rar files into one file folder named "ZT update".
2 files rar> 2 folders unzipped> take files from ZT image and place in "ZT update".
This folder and files need to be transferred to the device's _external_ SD card (use "copy").
---Back up all files to ext SD card or USB, because the whole internal card will be reformatted--
Do you mean all the files should be in the external card or should they be in two folders on the sd card ?
I have tried to load it on mine but its not working
thanks

Just bought an Elonex 1000et (same as ZT-180) and had the same issue. I checked my router (its a BT Homehub 3) and it has a mode to support WPA1 and WPA2 at the same time. I changed that to be WPA1 only and that solved the disconnect problem straight away. I then also tried setting it to 802.11b/g mode but not N mode, not sure if that was necessary, but after this I got a very reliable connection. This is on Andriod 2.2 Froyo firmware, not sure if that has any effect.
i bought the zt 180 in spain and it has crashed will not boot up stick on the android bit and will not get passed that bit.
i have sent email to the place that made them but no answer to my message so ith is my last chance to fix it if possiable.
dont no if i need a new image of the software or what but stuck i any can help

Android is version of linux. It is a touch screen optimized user interface that is running on top of a version of linux that is compiled and optimized for the processors used in phones and tablets.

Newbie here. got a zt180 last year it has on it android 2.1 20101030 kernal 2.632.9 1608. tried to install 2.2 everything is on my sd card in a folder zt-update. when I hold down the button and power on it does not do anything except boot up (very slowly) what an I doing wrong.
I loaded ZT280_E7_1f_C71_Android2.3_1110_GO_V1.6\ZT280_E7_1 f_C71_Android2.3_1110_GO_V1.6 > this is OS 2.2.3 >google<
I did create a folder zt-update and extracted the files to it.
took me awhile to find this fix many trys ,with zt-update not found. with black screen.
push the sound buttom to change boot modes.
Gps still doesn't work.
Insert a standard SD card into your computer’s media reader.
2. Download this file and save it to the root of the SD card, not in any folder.
3. Do not extract the contents of the ZIP file, leave it as a ZIP archive.
4. Do not rename the file. Do not allow your browser to change the name of the file. If necessary, change it back.
5. With the Tablet powered off, press and hold the volume up button (keep holding), then press and hold the power button at the same time.
6. Keep holding both buttons, the screen will read he Tablet first, and then the Android robot and software package icons will appear on the screen with a progress bar.
7. You may now release the buttons and allow the process to complete.
8. When done, the tablet load will reappear and the unit should then load normally.

I have two ZT-180 ePads. I cannot flash either of them. These are running 2.2, but are the 256mb version. One is locked and will not go past the Android 'text' on boot.
Here is the problem. When I try to flash I cannot get the "green" light in the burntool software. I have the pad booted in the MMC update mode (held in the home button while turning it on). The software will not detect the device. It does not show in the windows device list.
Now if I boot the ePad normal, without entering the MMC update mode, the burntool WILL show a green light for device 10 like it should. However in this mode I cannot flash the ePad!
Seems like things are reversed. I've tried everything. I'm on a 32-bit computer, tried different usb ports, downloaded the burntool again, uninstalled and reinstalled the secbulk drivers.
My ZT-180 (android 2.2) won't connect to the internet via my verizon home router, even tho the signal is excellent. in fact, it doesn't connect to the net through any free wi-fi sites like panera or starbucks, Kinda seems useless to have this device if I can't get it to work. Thoughts? thanks.
