Default Merit Storage Question

Last night, my merit was tried to update the reddit is fun app. I believe the update size was ~2.8mb. I had ~16mb of storage free, but the update failed with the error Insufficient Storage. Why does this happen when the phone tells me it has 16mb free? How can I keep it from happening again?

Make more room on the device by ether deleting messages, unneeded apps, or root to use a ext partition.

Does it really take 16mb to install a 3mb update? I just want the phone to recognize and use the storage correctly.

It will only let you get so low.

There is someone on here that said they were able to overcome that. A search through the forum might help. I think you would need root tho.

There is as few ROMs that mounts your SD ext add internal. That should give you enough.
