Default Wireless NON Ad-Hoc Tether?

I was wondering if there was any type of wireless tether that would send out a infrastracture signal instead of a Ad-Hoc signal, because I cant connect my video game systems to it, only my laptop. Also, are people still working on a custom rom for the zte warp, or have they given up on it? Thanks in advance.

Google wifi tether for root users beta. You can change the device profile to different phones. Now as far as setting up for infrastructure, on the prevail, i had it set to the Samsung Galaxy Indulge. But for the warp i haven't really tested it

Downloaded it to my phone. I tested the Samsung Galaxy Indulge profile and it still sent out the Ad-Hoc signal. So I tested all the others, and the closest I got was the Samsung Galaxy S2. It sent out a infastracture singnal, and I was able to connect to it, but when it tried to connect to the internet it didnt work. The download and upload speeds remained 0.00. The blue tether signal appeared on top of my phone as well, but when I clicked the "Start portable wifi tether" option it said "Error". Is there something I'm missing? Or is it just impossible on my phone?

Well this is what i have found so far. You need to be rooted. I don't even know if it will. But it might be a while, this is looking more complicated than i originally thought

Android Ad-hoc support hack/wpa_supplicant - xda-developers
Sorry for sounding like a noob, but I dont know what the link is exactly about, but ive thought of something just now.. I remember when I had the huawei ascend 2 and I had this exact same problem. Luckily they released a cm7 rom for it that unlocked the built in wireless tether for it, and it ran great. Im wondeingr if I could find some kind of file that I could install on my phone that would unlock it just as it did in the cm7 rom. Is that even possible?

EDIT; I think that link was about trying to connect one andriod device to another using Ad-Hoc, so let's be clear about this. I dont need an Ad-Hoc signal at all. It has to be Infrastracture.

But Im afraid to test this for the warp. Eh, maybe I should just wait for someone to release a rom that unlocks the built in tethering.. as much as I dont want to. But anyway, thanks for helping me.

I am using Barnacle Wifi Tether and works very well, it is free from Market, you can use a password (5 or 13 characters), works very fast, I got Internet on my laptop from my ZTE Warp by this way.

Yes but barnacle only broadcasts an Ad-Hoc tether. Not a infrastracture tether. Which is the one I need. It probably wont be able to run a infrastracture tether until someone unlocks the built in tethering located in: Settings > Wireless & Networks > (should be) Tethering & Portable Hostspot.

I was messing with WiFi tether and got it to show up as a AP, but after it assigned an IP could not get internet access.

Ok, I was curious so I started messing with settings...
check this out...

If you set WiFi Tether manually to "ZTE Blade" under Device profile and "Netd" under setup-method it comes up as an access point!! I am able to connect with a laptop however I still can not go anywhere on the internet

Intresting tho.. the laptop connects @ 72 Mbps with an ip of "192.168.43.xx" and I see network traffic...

msg me devs!! I'll test!

This sounds very similar to what i've discovered. After downloading the wireless tether beta app, changing the device profile to "Samsung Galaxy S2", then changing the set up method to "Netd (master)", it also comes up as a access point. It is also a infrastracture one. Im able to connect to it, but only to find out that I cant get on the internet with it. The download and upload speeds remain 0.0kb, and when I try to use the "blue tether icon" and press the "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" option, I always get an error. Theres got to be some way to make it work... but sadly I just dont know how. So i've been patiently waiting for someone to make a custom rom that might be able to unlock this feature, but that has yet to be done. Snake X is working on it, but he seems like he's having trouble. I'll try to email as many rom developers as possible tomorrow and ask for help.

Anybody try lowering the MTU for the connection once it has been established? That's what I had to do to get my Triumph to work with my computers, at least.

That and what about foxfi? I haven't seen anybody mention it yet.

I have tried everything. FoxFi just locks up my phone, however 1 single time I got the hotspot feature turned on. My PS3 recognized my phone as a hotspot, but would not connect. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled this app many more times, but still locks up my phone I have been through the app store and tried many different apps, but nothing seems to work. My phone is not rooted, but I think I may soon try to root it. Any feedback is appreciated!
Thanks...

I've tried everything too.. seems like the only chance for it to start working is to wait for devlopers to build a custom rom that unlocks the feature.. but at this point im not even 100% sure that infrastracture tethering is possible with the Warp. I wish I knew how to unlock it myself, but I dont..

I cheated, what I did was just setup the phone as an ad-hoc and flashed an old router to DD-WRT, then set it up as a repeater / bridge - works great however the router is doing the job not the phone (so when your done you’ll see 2 access points an ad-hoc and an infrastructure AP)

yea sucks but its a solution for now and DD-Wrt compatible routers are cheap you can pick one up on Amazon for $20.

I just came from using the triumph as well and that's what I had to do was lower the MTU, that was for the computer though, not sure about a gaming system...

Friends here have already confirmed this does not work either... It looks like there's no working solution at this time. The Warp makes a good recipient of wifi but not a good sender.

The only half decent solution I could imagine was downloading PDANet onto this device and attaching it to a computer that is running that with Connectify, which (with updated wireless drivers and a wifi card) can at least turn your computer into a hotspot.

I'm not too worried about having a hotspot, I just use the usb tether with PDAnet and that works great when I need it...

Hi everyone, I ran into another problem. OK I have root access now, yayyyyyy y! I wanted right away to see if I could put internet on another device(my old Galaxy prevail) Now wireless hotspot turns on and says I can share internet but my galaxy is not finding it. Now I had my neighbor come by and turn her hotspot on her phone and my galaxy connected to her phone. Why isn't my warp not being recognized? Superuser says I have access.

I'm also getting "su binary update" message using super user, I get failed every time so I read a forum bout installing the busy box installer from the market n which I did. its suppose to fix the update problem but I don't think it did cause I have no idea if this binary update is a part of why it won't let any devices find my warps WiFi connection. Oh her phone did not recognize my warp either for hotspot. Is that why I cant hotspot? Know anything about this?

Pleas confirm whether you are using a wired or wireless method, and what operating system you are using. Windows 7 is preferred for wireless. And I'm no network pro, but the tray icons you see can be very misleading.
