You're correct. It says 1.3. I missed that because I was trying to do my last 2 versions as quick fixes.

I'm thinking the next version will require no authorization. I was going to put this on google market, but I'm not sure if I should because it's still "buggy" and even if i work out all of the bugs , the method for non-rooting LED operation is buggy by nature.

Personally I'm thinking about getting a Warp Sequent or an Evo Design. Probably the latter.

Default thank you!

Just got a warp. First thing I installed was a flashlight app. WTF? no led? A google search lead me here. Had to do another to figure out how to install apk files. Works great! Thanks!

Unrooted/unmodified

After reading this entire thread, installing & checking this application, I felt compelled to donate for this application. Which is very out of character for me, so I musta really appreciated your work!

Hi Blackbolt,

I've got a ZTE T22 Australian Telstra phone which has the same problem with flashlight apps, I would dearly love to try your app out on my phone.

Cheers, Ian

Default Version 2.0 is out!

This is not a feature update but a quality of life update. Basically I am making it free for 1000 uses. Also: No more clicking anything more than the on/off button, etc. after opening it. (Requires a few extra clicks during first use to authorize and set the free uses to 1000 but that's it!!).

It is imperative that you clear the data on whatever version you're currently using. Please also uninstall the app before installing this version.

Settings->Manage Apps->Warp Flashlight->Clear Data->Uninstall

Update as of 1/17/2013

Version 2.0 is out!
** Flashlight app now requires 1 authorization to enable the app for 1000 uses. Use the code "free" to enable.

Finally. Do not ask me to remove the authorization at this point. Authorization at this point allows the app to CHECK IN for the following:
- When first authorizing a message will be displayed saying the app was authorized followed by (NEW) the latest version number. Instead of checking here you can just authorize and compare to the version displayed in the app to the last message stating what the latest version is.
- Control of the app by it's developer. I need to be able to shut it down at some point, i.e. to force everyone to update, etc.

Go right ahead. Navigate to this site on your phone and go down the page to 2.0 and download/install it. If you can't install it try the app "download all files". Works like a charm for me.

Thanks, have installed and followed all the instructions but when I try Get Authorization using the code "free" (without quotes) it comes back with This app could not be Authorized! Internet access is available via WiFi.

Cheers, Ian

Hi Ian. I just cleared data on the app AND uninstalled it on my Warp. I just used the word free with no caps and it authorized. That's weird.

Can anyone else test this for me? I haven't changed the code for the authorize so I'm not sure what's the issue. The app needs permissions and uses the internet. Maybe it's a permission issue with that model?

The other big thing that is in my head is that your network isn't allowing contact with my site to authorize. You are located in Australia?

On your phone can you go to http://sites.google.com/site/pncsoftware ? I'm guessing yes because you downloaded it using your phone and not some other means, correct?

Finally, try using another wifi or your cellular's internet (disable wifi) to authorize. Just in case the wifi you're on restricts data, et al.

I had originally downloaded the apk to my PC and transferred it to the phone. So to check, I stopped it, cleared data, uninstalled it then opened your site in the phone's browser and downloaded v2 directly to the phone. Installed it and tried authorising again it but still won't play ball. I've tried it with WiFi disabled using 3G data only and though I can open your site ok I still can't get it to authorize. I've also tried it on our WiFi network at the office and it behaves the same. I am getting a lock symbol in the browser when I open your site but I expect that's normal if it is a secure site. I've just tried installing v2 on a Samsung Galaxy Ace running Gingerbread 2.3.4 and it authorizes perfectly (I didn't try to use it of course) so it is starting to look like it is an access problem on the ZTE-T22 which is running ICS 4.0.4.

Thank you BlackBolt! Works perfectly on my unrooted ZTE Fury. The only problem is that it gets very hot. What makes the ZTE phones not work with other flashlight apps?

Absolutely a kernel issue, and it has been resolved. You can root the phone, stay stock and still flash a custom kernel.

Hello Ian. I made an update just for you and everyone else who is running Android versions newer than 2.3.3. Please try the new version 2.1 to see if you can Authorize! Enjoy..

Version 2.1 is out!
** Added asynchronous authorization to be forward compatible with newer Android versions.
** Changed the blink system but it may be broken or not functional at the moment. The changes are a slide bar to change the blink rate but it's under construction

Thanks Blackbolt, it authorizes now without any problems but I can't turn the LED on. It shows it has turned it on but nothing is happening. Also can't tick the Dim & Flash boxes although I can change the two sliders. Probably tied up with the later Android version. Thanks for your efforts, I guess I'll just have to use the display as a torch for the time being.

Cheers, Ian

It was honestly designed for the Warp only so there may be some coding difference. Do you have a front facing camera?

Also, the dim/flash boxes are only for ROOTED users, as well as the sliders.. The only thing the non-rooted version does is flashlight only.

I am going to try and improve the code so it works with any led. Is your phone rooted Ian? It's not required to be rooted but it does make it work if you are (at least I think it will). I wish I had a phone like yours to try it on but I'm going to try my app on the new 4.0+ android phone I activated today. Maybe if i don't work and I get it to work, yours will work too

Thanks for the explanation. My phone is fairly new so have not bothered rooting it at this stage. The phone has both a rear facing and front facing camera. It seems that pretty much all ZTE phones are problematic with flashlight apps. Anything I can do to help with testing please let me know.

Cheers, Ian
