Default Problems with ZTE

Hi, recently I began having problems with my ZTE. It has done the restarting on its own thing, and has been freezing up and I have to take out the battery and restart. But more recently, my swipe text stopped working, it's like it needed to be calibrated, which I did. That didn't fix it. Then it would take me multiple tries to unlock it after not being in use for a while. Again, like it didn't recognize when I touched it, or it was way off from where I did touch. Now when I finally get it unlocked by swiping open, it is stuck on the dialer page, and when I try to hit the Home button, it exits for a second and then the dialer pops back up. I can't do anything else. If I hit the Back button it does nothing. I've shut it down more times than I can remember, taken out the battery, left it to charge overnight turned off, pressed the reset button inside the back, and now I just don't know what else to do. Any ideas? Again, I cannot exit the dialer screen, so I can't do anything like download things to help fix it. I have service through Boost, and it is incredibly hard to get ahold of a real person to talk to, so that will be my last step if this cannot be fixed.
Thanks in advance.

Shinjitsu is the way to go. Except I don't think he is going to be a good candidate to walk through the root process

Hroark's Warp Kernel Source

This is the kernel you need. Do the same thing you did for superuser. You download this. Save it to your SD card. Go in to clock work mod (hold volume up, and power) go to install zip from sd. Find the kernel.. It should say something like (hroarks_warp_kernel.) Click on it and go down to yes. Let it install. Reboot. This should fix your problem. Let me know how this goes.

Welcome to the AndroidForums, alvarezali .

So, it really doesn't sound like you are rooted, so hopefully the guys will suggest something other than root-related alternatives for you.

If I'm wrong here, guys, then we'll get this thread moved to the all-things-root sub-forum.

Good luck, alvarezali -- I'm hoping someone has a helpful suggestion for you.

Cheers!

Thumbs up

First off Welcome to the AndroidForums, alvarezali

Like scary alien stated above you clearly are not Rooted so i don't know whats going on there.Lets try to get you out of the Woods here a little bit.My best advice is to do a Hard Reset simply follow these steps.

Hard master reset:
1. Turn Phone off
2. Press and hold Volume up button then Press and hold Power button till a menu will come out "Android system recovery"
4. Use the Volume button to scroll up and down and use the Camera button to select (click on).
5. Scroll down to "Wipe data/factory reset" and click on it.
6. Scroll down to "Yes -- delete all user data" and click on it.
7. After "Data wipe complete" click on "reboot system now"

A factory reset or master reset is a full restore of an electronic device to its factory settings. Such electronic devices include handheld computers such as PDAs and mobile phones. It entails deleting all information stored in the device. This is essentially the same as reformatting a hard drive. A factory reset may become necessary from time to time on a device which is no longer working. Many problems with a hand held electronic device such as freezing can be resolved by performing a factory reset or hard reset.

Post back with any questions or Concerns and tell us how it went.

Tom.

Thank everyone so much for the input and the welcome wishes.
Tom, if I do the master reset, will it erase all of my pictures and videos? I have precious pictures of my daughter and don't want to lose them. However, I have backed most of them up, just not the recent ones.
alsaces daddy, I cannot exit the dial screen to download anything. Would I be able to download that to my phone if I plug it into my computer?
I am very, very unknowledgeable when it comes to technology! Thank you for your help!

alvarezali there is a option to click on that asks you to erase sd card skip that,But there is a good possibility that you will STILL lose those pictures and every thing else. But the good news is you don't have to!Just open up the back pop out your micro SD Card and back them up on your comp you can simply just open up you photo folder and drag and drop them any where you want on you comp

Okay, anther stupid question on my part..how would I back them up on my computer? I don't see a small enough port. Would I have to plug my phone into my computer with a USB cable? Then, I'm guessing my phone would need to be turned on? Can I open it up through my computer?
Also, will I lose books I've downloaded and paid for? I don't care if I lose apps, but the things I've paid for would really suck to lose as well.
Thank you so much!!

Yes to both questions then when prompted turn on usb storage on you phone or you might have to bring it up in the drop down screen on the phone, then open up my computer And find the correct Drive mine is DRIVE M then just look for the folders that you want, open and drag and drop. But i am afraid that with your screen frozen it wont work.So just remove the sd card and place it in microSD card adapter that will fit in you computer slot and your set.If you don't have one can you get them for 2.00 bucks at radio shack or any electronic dept/store.

Damn! Well my only advice is too do a battery pull, followed by a second try at the Hard reset if thats a no go.Then if it was me i would start the Process of ether returning it if that's a option or sending it back for repair/replacement.Do you carry the cheap insurance ? Sorry Bud that's all i have maybe someone else has some input.Good Luck and Have a Great Day.

Tom.

Hold on now.I am wondering if youR sd card is bad or corrupted is there anyway you can get a clean empty card to try out.If not reformat the one you have now and try that

Tom, I did what you suggested, and again, same thing. I emailed the company so hopefully they'll replace or repair it.
Thanks so much to everyone for their help! I will definitely come back here for future help and will look into rooting my next phone.
