Did the update cause any changes to the framework-res.apk and the systemUI.apk? I ask for theming purposes.

I turned notifacations off by going to system/etc/security then renaming "otacerts.zip" to "otacerts.zip.bak"

I read that after you do that, you should clear the cache partition and dalvik cache.

It seems like the general consensus is that this update is either bad or pointless. And because the update patches the framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk, I don't think I'm going to update Warped Sandwich to be compatible with it, even if MrBobo incorporates it in the next version of n00b.

... Unless I get really bored.

Since my Warp is running just fine, I will wait till MrBobo updates the N00b with this update (b10).

As a general policy, I try and keep my ROM on the latest version of software that zte/boost put out, others can take it or leave it... this discussion is as old as the warp, some devs have a preferred version (b08/b08c/b07), my personal preference is just to be up to the latest build.

So far I haven't seen any issues with the new version, it's been running fine on my phone.

Use a root-able file browser to navigate to /cache/ then find the update (it will end with N860_b08c_to_b10gota) and delete it.

Today I'm working on an update flashable which will upgrade to B10G, and clear the cache in case the update was already downloaded automatically.

Sure no problem! Actually, if you just clear the cache partition entirely using your custom recovery that'll take care of all of them. Your next boot up will also be super-slow; this is normal.

Samsies. I tried manually deleting cache. Did it with recovery. Cleared and reformatted cache and cleared devlic cache. Just comes back. Also I do not have a folder system/etc/system but I do have system/etc/security that contains specified file. Changed that and added a bak extension. Nothing. Renamed the update file to bak as well and moved it to SD. Nottanearnottanothing. Stupid update in my notifications. I even went into sys/firmwarr and found the firmware update and changed it. Deleted it. Poop. Nothing.

You might be able to run applypatch from the terminal and patch things on the fly... I don't see why not. If the updater-script can do it, you should be able to, too. Also, this might help. I haven't played with it and it may be totally off, but it was just a curious find.
