Help Update Google Maps

Hey guys, I ve seen that google realesed new version of google maps and they state that we have to download it from market and it will update like all other applications dowloaded from market.
1)I cannot find it on market from my phone's application
2)I downloaded from a forum and when i tried to load it, it said that it is a system application and may not be installed
What should i do?

I have 1.5 hero rom

I believe that the new version of Google maps is for Android 1.6 or above.

confirmed, 1.6+ is needed for lots of the newer apps and functions. All the more reason to get off 1.5 and go for 2.1.

Probably won't install or won't work. Update to 2.1 if you need it.

Hi, this is probably the wrong place to post this, but since you are discussing the maps app, is it possible to download different audio for the voice navigation. I'm not crazy about the choppiness of the voice that comes with it. I'm new so please be kind about not knowing if I should start a new post with this or put it in here with maps. Maybe I should copy it to a new thread as well? Thanks.
