whats the real story about upgrading?

Nope, I actually just got upgraded. If your upgrade date or contract end date fall anywhere in 2010 and you haven't used it already, you can use your upgrade starting today. My upgrade date was 03/11 because of a problem with Storm but my actual contract end date was 12/10 so they were able to upgrade me with 2yr pricing to an Incredible which i may change to a Droid X.

Are we confused or ate vzw reps? I called earlier, Mt upgrade is in November and the lady said I have to wait until then .. So I'm confused/mad. Verizon should brief their customer service people. Was what was said at the press conference falling on deaf ears?

That woman wasn't informed on it. You should be able to get the phone with upgrade price.

just called vzw again and was told im eligible
:D now im happy plus i can bill it to my bill to give me time to sell my 9550 and get my rebate thank god

but big red needs to inform all their lackey's bc the girl earlier had me thinking i had to wait until november

so if you are eligible for an upgrade any time this year, havent used it, you CAN use it immediately ONLY on the droid x

I still don't know if I would believe that. I just got off the phone with a rep and she had no idea about the early upgrade. I told her it was announced yesterday and she said she would probably hear about it soon, but wasn't sure.

Her thoughts were that they would go by upgrade date instead of contract date, but she wasn't positive.

I emailed Verizon and they said I am eligible to upgrade as soon as the X comes out. My upgrade was in Aug now i don't have to wait the extra month.

lol these vzw reps are retarted maybe some call centers got the memo and some didnt?

When I called I was originally told it was the upgrade date anytime in 2010 but when he looked further into it I was able to upgrade to the Incredible because my contract end date was in 2010. From what was explained to me they're going based off of upgrade date but can also go by contract end date. I'm positive about the contract end date because it was done for me at 1:45pm EST. Also, I may switch my order to the X when I can pre-order it.

So you are saying that they can go by either one?

My upgrade date is 12/2/10 and when I emailed Verizon specifically about the upgrade to the Droid X, they replied to my email and said if I wanted to upgrade before my upgrade date I would have to pay retail.

I wish all this would just get straightened out, cause I'm buying it either way, just don't want to pay retail if I don't have to.

I think in a couple more days they will know what is going on, like someone else said that phone was just announced yesterday, so I am sure most of the Verizon reps have no idea what is going on.

I'm not positive but I'd say so based off of him wanting to go by upgrade date first and not being able to since that was 03/11. After consulting with others he was able to do it because my contract end date was 12/10.

That was for the Incredible also so the rumors going around that it's only for the X are false.
