Is Astro killing my battery?

When you say off do you mean locked? If your phone is off, it cannot use any battery power. If the phone is plugged into a charger, it will not turn off. I think we need to establish exactly what you are doing.

The phone is powered down, not plugged in as in off. This is why I am having an issue to have 30% of battery drain the last 2 nights just after Astro.

You know, even if your phone is off, that doesn't mean it will stop battery drain. batteries don't retain charge forever. If you leave it off for like 24 hours and lose 30%, thats normal.

I know, I turn my phone off at 1 AM and turn it back on around 9 AM for the day everyday. It never lost this much power ever.

Yes a Lithium ion cell loses charge even when you don't use it but there's no way it will lose 30% overnight. I can leave my phone on overnight playing music and will lose less than that.

If you are losing 30% overnight with your phone turned off, something is either wrong with the phone, or the battery.

I will have it fully charged tonight and shut it completely off tonight and see what happens. The only other things I did to the phone when I downloaded Astro was an update to facebook touch, skyfire and FxCamera. I uninstalled Facebook touch.

this is not an issue with any apps. Its probably just your battery is wearing out. There is no possibility of an app effecting battery life with the phone powered off

A battery should not wear out over night. My battery has been great untill I downloaded Astro and the 3 updates I mentioned on the 23rd. prior to the 23rd it was perfect.

That might be true, but you must understand that when your phone is turned off, there is no possible way an app can affect it discharging the battery.

I ask again, you are SURE the phone is off? If you plug it in, it is not turned off.

Also, I recommended before that you check your battery usage. Did you do that?

When did you get your droid? It could be that your battery is just wearing out period. If my droid was losing 30% overnight while turned off I would be going to verizon and asking for a replacement battery.

If you want to be sure pull your battery out tonight instead of just turning it off and see if there is a difference.

If the battery was losing charge by itself, this wouldn't make any difference, would it?

Are we sure the phone is actually powered off, or if it is just into sleep mode. I am going to predict that he is just pressing the power button and watching the screen go blank, instead of getting the pop up that says POWER OFF

I am going to predict that you are a moron for assuming I dont know how to turn my phone off...

I think he has every right to ask that question. He is trying to make sure you aren't the moron. Since you are suggesting that somehow an application on the phone could drain battery power when the phone is OFF, that's not such a stretch.

You are really being pretty rude to people who are just trying to help you.
