So what are your reasons on why you're moving over to the Droid X?

My main reasons:

1. HD video recording
2. Larger screen size (much more screen real estate)
3. Build quality
4. Better battery life (far greater with the 1930mAh battery that adds ONLY 1mm thickness)
5. Better photos
6. Far superior performance with ROOT and Froyo
7. Better reception
8. Mifi
9. Home button wakes the screen when locked!
10. The speaker on my phone blew out and am waiting for a replacement to sell on Ebay. Bad mistake from HTC along with all of their other hardware issues.

My main REASON:

The Inc Community. We never had the accessory support like other devices, some are barely achieving root, and Verizon is just leaving us out in the cold a bit. I love my phone, and I appreciate unrEVOked for even trying, but watching as potential Inc members and current ones so willing leave because of the problems is a bit disheartening.

Other reasons:
1. 720p
2. 4.3" of greatness (not loving the overall size, but there is NO way the screen can be put to shame by my Inc's Pentile Matrix.
3. The Inc seems maxed out already. I'm hoping the X leaves reason to root.
4. Unresponsive touch-screen on my Inc is going a bit out of control. Started off barely noticeable, but now it selects random things without my touching it.
5. Quality. My friend with a Moto Droid dropped his phone down a flight of concrete steps, and the most he had was some metal knicks. I've removed the back cover of the Inc when trying to root, and now it won't stop squeaking when pressed.
6. ALWAYS going into edge on my Inc when not on wifi.

Just my .02. I'm really on the fence about switching. My 30 days expires the 1st of July, but I'm wondering if I can wait it out until I can handle the X on the 15th and then make a stink about my Inc's unresponsive screen problem... Choices choices.

1. Hate the incredible's amoled screen. The pentile layout is awful, and coming from an original Droid, the screen has been a terrible disappointment. Color accuracy, sunlight viewability are both awful as well.

2. Build Quality. The Incredible is nice and light, but i always feel like it is on the edge of catastrophe. Pulling the battery door always feels dicey to me, and a little plastic part has already broken off around the microusb port.

3. Performance and battery life. Droid X looks smoking fast. I recently got the 1750mah seidio battery for my inc, and that has pretty much allowed me to get through the day, but I'm hoping the DX will be even better.

4. a REAL car dock accessory! I got the verizon branded incredible car dock and it broke after 2 weeks (the part where the holster clips on to the mount). It was pathetic even before it broke though, always wobbling and weak. I had grown used to the very solid motorola mount for the original droid. Now the DX will have a mount with built in charging and audio. Sign me up!

My Inc day 30 is coming up Monday and I decided to send it back and will get the X.

I too am worried that the Inc will be an orphaned phone. Looks like it's going to be a very short sales cycle for it. Verizon must be really ticked off at HTC for not being able to produce the phones.

I like the faster proc, hopefully better battery, 720p video, larger screen, official Swype (with mic button).

Main negative of the X is the size, but I'm over it. I'll deal with it in exchange of all of the other things.

Hi. New posting to the forum, but have been reading for a while. I've never owned a Droid. Currently have a blackberry tour and am still waiting on the backordered DInc. However, i'm starting to think I may refuse shipment and get the X instead. I think I really just need to be able to hold it and judge how the size feels for myself.

My question though is whether Moto's Droids are able to do the pinch/zoom thing like the incredible does. I kind of like that feature, but it isn't a deal breaker. Just curious though.

Any help from you guys would be appreciated! Thanks.

The Motorola Droid has pinch-to-zoom support as of version 2.1 Eclair. The Droid X has it as well. Any device running Android 2.1 has the feature.

Also, I would recommend you to keep your Incredible until you can go and check out the Droid X for yourself, and if you decide you like it better use your 30-Day policy to return it and get the X. I believe if you upgrade from the Inc to the X there is no restocking fee at this time, but don't quote me. :p

Thanks for the help! I definitely don't want to give up the DInc until I've held and played with the X. Luckily my ship date for the Inc is right around the X release date, so that should work out. I think I may call Verizon and see about this restocking fee. I can see them waiving it when it's unopened, but I wonder if they'll waive it if I open and play with it a bit.

Either way, thanks for the answer!

I called today to cancel my order on the Incredible, since it's the weekend they had to put in a "request" to the warehouse to cancel it and there a chance it may ship before the cancellation goes through. I asked the csr what to do in that event and he told me that as long as it's not activated, there will be no restocking fee. However, since I intended on just refusing the delivery if it were to ship, it was a non-issue for and I didn't question it any further.

HTC just decided to switch to LCD screens for current and future phones cuz of the "shortage"

I quoted that cuz I bet Samsung wont have delays with their new phones coming out soon.....It will be real interesting to see once the Galaxy S and Pro launch.

I posted about this a month ago that HTC were screwed, since Samsung scarfed up capacity for their own product launches. I bet those were som FUN meetings those companies had.

The penalties HTC probably paid VZW for the issue must hurt. I guarantee HTC had to compensate VZW. Then HTC will go to Samsung for compensation. It ALL rolls down hill. ;)

Samsung must REALLY want to launch now, being willing to eat the money.

-Larger screen
-My cousin also has the incredible
-Efficient processor/better battery life
-Screen better in sunlight

I'm going to miss the touch sensitive buttons and the dedicated optical trackpad/button... Maybe the touch sensitive buttons not so much since I accidentally hit them too much, but the main button is nice for taking pictures.

I cancelled my order for the DInc on Friday and was told that it would take until Wednesday to cancel the order and refund my credit card for the order. Because my order was not scheduled to ship until July 9th, I am reasonably sure the order will be cancelled before it is shipped.

I am waiting till the 15th to get Droid X at VZW store just to make sure I get my employee discount.

Because sprint coverage at my home is bad to non-existent. I would keep my Evo if it weren't for that issue - it's a great phone, but looking forward to the X. Pre-ordered today.

*edit*

I don't have an "inc" which I now figured out is the Incredible. I currently have an active Evo and 3Gs.
