tPDANet enables Bluetooth DUN on Droid!

3.) Make your droid discoverable.

4.) Pair with the device, and use 123 as the dial number to tether.

I've tested it and while it does remain connected (Win7), it's flaky on several websites. My twitter client on the other hand remains connected. So I @replied them on twitter to get that documented. I think BT is awesome; only disadvantage I see is no wired charging, but if my phone was charging at a base, while I'm on the couch on my laptop, that would be awesome. PDANET is awesome, and they are very effective at masking you from your carrier using tethering!

Phones have unlimited internet. So this masks you, making them think you're on your phone vs. your laptop.

Don't abuse it. If you're consistently getting 20-40GB they will come down on you. Use it when you need it, simple as that.

Your phone has a 5gb cap on VZW, just like tethering is a 5gb cap.

The data plan for smartphones on VZW states UNLIMITED data.. I have passed 5gb many times(overnight internet radio hog here..lol) and never been charged extra.

For Snow Leopard:
First, on your phone, click the enable bluetooth DUN button in the pdanet app then go into your bluetooth options and make the phone discoverable.

Then go to System Preferences > Network and click the plus button in the bottom left. Change the interface to bluetooth DUN and give it a name, click create.

(this part is a little foggy for me but i'm pretty sure it goes something like this) Click set up bluetooth device, go thorough the steps of finding your phone and entering the passcode. It should tell you the phones options available (file transfer, internet connection)... When you get to the final box change the connection type to CDMA and type 123 in the phone number box, leave the user and password blank. Click ok.

Once you get back at the network pref pane, click connect.

I've got everything working up to connecting -- the Bluetooth DUN connects, but then disconnects about 1-3 seconds.

That to try/change now?

You guys know much about the source of this app? Trusted? I googled tPDAnet and didn't find much of anything on them...

There is no cap on the email and web for smartphone add on feature, this has been debated and it came to the conclusion that there is no limit. Check every TOS and all the fine print, it makes absolutely NO MENTION of a 5GB cap or any amount at all. Now if you are pulling large amounts of data every month or a few GB in 3 or 4 days then they will definitely send you a warning, and you will either have to cut back or have your service terminated and you won't be able to open a account for 6 months. You could also be charged if they figured out you are tethering, and tethering plans are capped at 5GB so if you went over that you could face some serious charges.

Now don't abuse this, if you have WiFi/internet access then don't tether just for the hell of it. You will ruin it for everyone and VZW will most likely raise prices or get stricter on what types of data we can use. Also PDAnet/JuneFabrics has been around for a long time, something like 5+years, I used it on WinMo phones and never had any problems. They do a great job of masking the fact that your tethering and I've never heard of anyone getting caught.

pdanet has been around for a long while, i had it on my treo year ago. I had thought there is a 5gb limit on data, not unlimited. There certainly used to be, maybe vzw removed it from newer contracts?

anyway, if you abuse, vzw will come down on you, search these forums, hofo, crackberry for some stories.

Any luck? I have tried PDAnet, I can get my phone and Tomtom 910 to talk to each other, but only as a bluetooth headset thing. It then asks for me to set up for DUN and nothing I try works. Have tried to input my own settings, but it comes up to say that they are all wrong, driving me mad!!!!

I have downloaded the latest 2.45 and tried to connect to my Tomtom 910 to try and access more features including weather, traffic and was hoping to add receive and send text messages from Tomtom like i could with my old Sony ericsson c905 BUT no!
Amyone else had any luck?
