Root So i'mma try

I'm going to try to do what the fella's over at xda are doing to try rooting the eris. For those of you who dont know see this thread Updated root 1.49 - xda-developers

Okay i'm waiting on my SD card to format while i'm waiting i would like to know the answer to a simple question, If i DO(major if here) manage to get the eris running ADB in recovery and get root, would i just flash Amon's recovery afterwords?

I doubt i'll be able to do it because i'm a noobie when it comes to root and in no way a developer.

Another question, I see RUU all over the place and have no clue what it means. is RUU 2.1, 2.1 stock?

Okay, so i started trying it, it didnt recognize it the first time, and battery pulled now when i go to open hboot it just opens recovery again. did i do something wrong and brick my phone?

EDIT: Nevermind, its back in hboot.

Just to be clear, you're not using the RUU are you (you're attempting the XDA 2.1 leak root method, right)? Just wanted to make sure...:)

I got my phone from verizon with 2.1 and hboot 1.49 S-ON and many people have said that that version is same as Leak V3. If i'm wrong tell me?

Nope, you are absolutely right, leak v3 is the same as 2.1 OTA (this topic has been well-covered :D)...just wanted to make sure that the RUU wasn't really part of your efforts.

Thanks and good luck.
