Leak root has been found

I've been lurking here for a while now, and I will do my best to provide as much detail as I can.

I was able to unroot flashing the RUU_Desire that was released a few weeks ago, started over and got the condition again. When I'm done finishing this up, I'm going to post up some pictures about tips about how I held the phone during the crucial sd card out stuff, and if needed, I'm willing to make a video if needed. I want to get a better quality video camera than my webcam though if I do that. But, suffice it to say that I will do my best to give as much information about the conditions of my computer, my phone, the SD card and timing as I can.

Yes, what I did was after I walked through the steps to verify that I had root, I used the RUU OTA file

The one referenced here (http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/92096-verizons-ruu-official-2-1-droid-eris.html)

I flashed the RUU after I got root, then redid the steps I took to get adb to recognize my phone in recovery and it worked on the 2nd attempt of booting into recovery, and was able to get root again my phone.

Just borrow one from a friend with a cameraphone. The slow 1GB and 2GB cards were standard in the Env2 and Env3, I think.

They didn't come standard with the EnV2 or EnV3 (I know, I had both lol), but most people bought them for their phones. You could really probably find anyone with any phone and get one, honestly. Or, just buy one. They aren't expensive at all if you're only buying one or two gigs.

even though i could probably get root this way is there any chance that in a few days the process could become simpler?

actually odds are that you cannot root this way...... and you should pray theres a better way in a few days

what difference does it make what size card it is?

also, does this work for 1.49 hboot?

the different cards have to do with causing hesitation in the system and creating a hiccup that allows this to work.......

this is specifically for 1.49 hboot

Just curious, but is there a particular reason that a specific card may be needed? Is it because of the slow read/write speeds of the older cards, or something else?

If the Kingston does not work, I may be going out tomorrow to buy a PNY...

personally I dont think it can be narrowed to a specific card so much as it is luck.......... every single card even within the same specific line are going to read/write at slightly different speeds

seems to me its more a matter of the exact split second timing of inserting the card .......

this method is VERY unreliable at best (if you truely believe it has EVER even happened to begin with)....... out of hundreds of people trying hundreds of times there have been 3 people who 'claim' they did it

its your dimes if you want to go buy various new cards and keep trying....... best of luck

This method works, but it requires very specific timing, which i assume depends on your sd card. HOPEFULLY, someone has the brains to put together a program that can do this, and perhaps do a visual countdown for when you need to push in the sd card.

Ive been in the irc all day, and weve made virtually no progress outside of one person being successful.
