Root Noob here, Droid Root question

Ok so I followed the directions on:

How To: Root the Motorola Droid (Android 2.0.1 & 2.1) | TheUnlockr

and got 2.0.1 running on the phone again. Now I downloaded:

http://androidforums.com/all-things...exfro-1-0-1-android-2-2-frf57-wifi-fixed.html

2.2 Froyo. I tried to then rename the file to update.zip and then moved it to the root directory on the sd card. Then I went into recovery mode and did update.zip and this is what it keeps saying:

-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:Failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:Signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.

Please help me, I would love to a have a running 2.2 Droid.

Just to further explain ... if you have file extensions hidden on your PC, the ".zip" is already there you just can't see it. It's best to always show file extensions. I don't know why Microsoft always hides them by default. :(

If you google "show file extensions" and add your operating system (XP, Vista, Win 7), you can find out how to show them if you don't know already.

And one last thing...

Ok well I renamed it to update. I transfered it back to the phone and it now says:

-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:Signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.

It just got rid of one line. Well which I guess was pretty important. Any other ideas?

@Messenger13: Yeah they are extremely badass. :D

Edit: I forgot to tell you guys I skipped the part in the root video about installing 2.1 root. I just wanted to skip straight to 2.2.

I must be doing something wrong. That option doesn't even show up on my recovery screen. Mine looks like:

Android system recovery <2e>

use d-pad to highlight; center to select.

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

If you guys have any help for me, I think I might be missing a step or something.

Alright so I flashed it back to 2.0.1, activated it, updated to 2.1, got SPRecovery on the phone, transfered update.zip(NexFro), booted to recovery and then allowed and then updated. Now when the thing powers on it gets to the red eye and then locks up and resets back to the beginning and loops. Any idea? I'd REALLY love to have 2.2 root
