Flash sucks

Am I the only one who thinks that, however painfully it is to admit, Steve Jobs was right about Flash? I have not had one good experience with Flash so far. Its laggy. The rollover stuff really is a pain. It slows down the whole phone. Kills battery life and heats up my phone enough to fry an egg. Its deja vu. I hate Apple and I hate Steve Jobs, and I was a huge supporter of Flash coming to Android, but frankly, its terribly disappointing. The tap to interact thing is really annoying and doesn't work. I tried to watch the World Cup game and it was off center in full screen mode and very laggy. since we already have youtube and hulu won't let us watch their stuff, it seems that 95% percent of Flash really is ads. Also, I tried to watch a video in a flash player and i couldn't change the volume or pause it. And when scrolling, any flash content lags in movement and slows down the whole page.

Am I the only one disappointed? I mean, I know its only a beta but they have a long way to go for me to consider keeping it installed on a regular basis.

I have had as many good experiences as bad. And whether or not Flash does suck, I at least want the option to choose for myself if I want it on my phone or not. Plus, I'm not sure what phone your running it on, but if its anything other than the nexus one, a version of flash optimized for the device isn't out yet. If it is the nexus one, maybe you just are trying the wrong sites lol. My big thing is choice. If it really is that bad, let me decide for myself, don't tell me I can't have it.

Ah, my bad :/

yes, flash light is very, very different than flash 10.1. Flash light is a stripped down, minimally functional version thats purpose is to barely do the job of flash. that way it can run on slower hardware. Flash 10.1 is meant to bring the full flash experience to the mobile phone. It is still in BETA, so of course it doesn't work perfectly. If it did, it wouldn't be a beta.

One key point is that having full flash on mobile devices allows for mobile-specific flash sites. Mochi games has already announced a mobile optimized flash-game site: Mochi Media Launches Mobile Flash Games Website Using Adobe Flash Player 10.1 - MarketWatch

I don't have a flash enabled phone, but I'm really interested to hear how this site works: MochiGames Mobile

As others here have said, this is ultimately about the choice to use or not to use flash as opposed to having it dictated to you.

I love flash on my rooted Droid. No issues especially with the sites on Adobe's Flash showcase. (m.flash.com). All the sites I've been on with flash ran very smoothly.

I've watched some of the world cup games on 3G and it ran way better than my friend who watched it on Vcast. Sorry that your mobile flash experience wasn't as good as I see it to be. But in my opinion, flash definitely does not suck.

Flash isn't just video. There are hundreds of flash game portals online that will be available to android devices once froyo comes out.

For example, Mochigames: Welcome to MochiGames! (as hood420 pointed out).

Also Kongregate and PopCap: Kongregate: Play free games online and PopCap Games - Home of the World's Best Free Online Games

As well as all those insanely popular farmville / fishville / cafeville etc games that people play on facebook.

And this is a website that reviews casual games daily (most are flash).
Jay is Games - Flash and Casual Game reviews, walkthroughs, room escape games, point and click games, puzzle games and more!

I know its more than that. But if, when playing two different videos from different sites, I can't change where I am in the video or do anything other than what tapping the screen does (in last nights case, pause.) I just tried CNN video and I couldn't "seek" or pause and the video was very choppy. sometimes I even try to play with the interactive ads and they don't even work right. I tried playing a flash game once and it was unplayable.

Anyway, i don't mean to complain - I'm only running a droid although its overclocked to 1.1ghz and running Froyo. The choice thing is good, I agree. But I'm afraid that I need to admit to myself that I am a fanboy
