I have created a 2 part complete video walkthrough of how to root the official Sprint Samsung Moment 2.1 Firmware.

*If for some reason youtube request that I remove the audio portion of the video don’t worry I can re edit the video’s with backup music and or post them on my own website.* Let me know what you all think & comments are welcomed.

I'm thinking of jumping in to the rooting game. I just upgraded to the official 2.1 (DE03) so I think I completed all the steps covered in the first video. I think I should be able to download that first file and then pick things up at video 2. However, every other thread I've read regarding rooting says to use the CL14 updater. Is it correct that the method in this thread is using the newer DE03 updater? I also read somewhere on SDX that there is a .dll file you need to replace to get the DE03 updater to work for rooting, etc. Is this necessary for this method?

Matt,

Bud all the files you need are provided in the link and I show you on the video where to get it (From my Site) that's why I called it roopack.zip
Yes use the new installer then apply the patch included in the rootpack.zip as illustrated in the video watch both parts 1 & 2 and you will see.The patch will modify the files on the new 2.1 update so you can apply the files to your phone. This is why I made the tutorials so it's a complete step process but it seems I haven't managed to get everyones attention:p just kidding watch the videos that's all.

Tenica, ty for the walkthrough. I made it to the paste joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root-v7 in SD card. Phone still plugged in from SW update; Computer; click on removeable disk F:

I keep getting: Please insert a disk into removeable disk F:

Is it safe to unplug and plug back in? Stuck in the middle, please advise.

I have a really stupid question. I want to root my wife's phone so I can remove some of the bloatware, I have already done the sprint update from the first video last week. Can I just start with the rooting and if so will it still wipe the phone? I know I rooted my Hero without wiping that, so I assume that since I already have the update at the start of the video I can move on to the next step. The main question is will that process cause a total wipe?

hey im trying to remove some apps and i did all the steps in the video and it worked great. So now i have the # and i dont know how to get rid of the apps. Really all i want to remove is internet browser and youtube. Can anyone help ?

Now you need to use a program like Connectbot to allow you to go into a command line and delete them. It will be like working in a DOS window in Windows.

I don't have the commands readily available, but there are a few you need to set the read/write options for the directory, then for backing up the files before deleting, then setting the permissions back. If you are not real comfortable in command line a better option is Root Explorer.

It works as easily as any file manager, such as Astro, just click and delete, though it's like $3-4.

hey so it turns out that live chat is amazing! hehe so i went on there and received some great help about this problem.
What i needed to do after i got the # was enter another couple of commands. I dont remember what they are but they worked. (sorry for not taking notes for yals) anyways it had something to do with setting the new root folder and then i had access to remove applications.
Thanks for the video and forum creators thanks for the live chat feature :)
