Qualcomm ships first dual-CPU Snapdragon… to HTC? – Android and Me

I find it amusing how one, two, or maybe there's a lot more of you jumping to the moto X after having your incredible for a few months. Well, why don't you wait 6-7 months before ditching your Incredible already and get something Dual-Core, and 4G?

Just thought I'd save you all a few bucks..

I do the cell phone swap every year or less too, I know what it's like. But I only do it if there's a significant increase in specs. Now this would be worth it! Just thought I'd let you all know the future of what's to come for Android in about 6 months!

That's what I'm going to do. The Inc. will keep me happy at least until the new year, then I'm sure there will be something really worth the move.

For me, the call quality was the issue. Secondly, the size of the screen is an issue as I age. I am starting to really need reading glasses, so the bigger screen was welcome. The third thing was not being able to see the screen in the sunlight.

Don't get me wrong. I loved my Dinc, and am not back to wm 6.1 for the time being and am suffering with it!

Almost the same for me as Steven. Call quality on mine was just bad, same with the (1) other DInc ive seen here. While other verizon phones in this area were getting much better.
Screen size is an issue for me as well, but not for the same reason. I just would like a bigger screen for the things I use it for most. Also, I'm a big guy, so the actual size fits better for me. (6'5" large hands, heh)

The battery, but that negligible because of after market ones I could get i guess.

The Incredible is, well, incredible. Just slightly off from what I want.

Also, the lack of current(and future, from what I've seen) accessories for the DInc is disheartening. Thats a big one for me.

I like my Inc... the lady at Verizon messed up when I bought it with a new contract, and instead of having to wait 2 years to upgrade, I get to in 6 months. At that time though, I don't think there will be anything significantly better, so I'm going to wait for something super-awesome.

from what i read the chip(s) they are using are the 45nm chips which are better on battery. but who knows how it will really be.

The issue for me was the battery. Having to turn the phone off and charge it for 30-45 more minutes just to get a full charge was a dealbreaker. Other than that, I loved the phone. I was praying HTC would at least come out with a statement saying that an update was on the way. But since neither HTC, nor the blogs felt it important enough to give a statement, I had to bail. Right now Im back on my BB storm and I cant stand it. Im either trying the X or the (gasp) Iphone 4.

Yeah, I seriously do not plan on upgrading any time soon.

Yea but saying "ultra-low power consumption" begs the questions of "compared to what". I suppose if the quote said "ultra-low power consuption compared to HTC Incredible" then you could wholeheartedly say that it is indeed a better power managing cpu. But without a baseline spec to compare to, the phrase "ultra-low power consumption' is just a marketing ploy for the average joe.

Good update andrew. Hopefully it will be the size of the incredible. We'll see how much they can pack into a 3.7".

The X is just too unrealistic in size and weight for me - especially since I'm a pocket guy.

I'm sure it will be a decent phone though - Good size for 17 and under (gaming, youtube at lunch table with friends) and 50+ (can't see the screen without glasses).

I'm fine with my Incredible. I haven't had the same call issues that others have had. Only a few minor glitches but nothing that makes me want to give it up after only two months.

Same. I wonder why some people are having the issue and some not? Oh well.

I haven't had one dropped call yet and that's saying a lot considering I came from T-Mobile.

Dual core does not mean less power consumption just by being a dual core. If a dual core uses less power, something else was modified(Which is usually the case, but not always. Intel released unoptimized dual cores a long time ago with the codename Smithfield aka Pentium D 800 series. Those things could almost heat a house in the winter time). This dual core Snapdragon uses less power(per CPU, not necessarily overall) because it runs on a 45 nanometer process compared with the current gen Snapdragon's 65.

As far as call quality, it is subjective and will vary from person to person, at leas in regards to audio quality. Other call quality issues such as echo, delay, packet loss, etc, will depend on one's local environment.

I like my Inc too, I'm just guessing some people are going to update to the X simply because they're either awaiting replacements for faulty Incredibles, have them on order due to shortages, or may still be within their first 30 days (like myself).

I'm considering the switch, but doubt I'll do it for the same reason as many people: The X is a step up perhaps from the Inc, but only a small step up, not enough wow to make me switch, and I do like the small form-factor of the Inc.

If I was already past my "30 days" and had to take a financial hit for upgrading to the X, I doubt I'd even be considering it.

Look at many of the dual cores that are used in netbooks now that you can get an average 6-8hours out of a 9cell battery. I am not versed in the specifics, but if thats the type of technology you can get out of a dual processor in a netbook/laptop then the same principal should apply in this case.

i would like to see screen sizes get around 4 or 4.1 ,,, 4.3 is nice but the physical size of the phone starts to get out of hand, the evo is perfect though as they keep non-screen areas to a minimum but the X looks like too much bezel and physically too big, of coarse i won't know for sure until i hold one so i could be wrong.

uh, my laptop has a big battery that juts out the back, and the core2duo processor eats through it in an hour to 90 minutes. I have to use a program to throttle it down to 500mhz if I want it to last longer.

Despite what you may think, you can't cheat the laws of energy. If it runs faster, it will require more juice. You can make it more efficient, but you will eventually pay more and more in terms of battery life for better performance.

That's why battery technology is as important, if not more so, than processor speeds.
