I live in Mesa, AZ (suburb of Phoenix) and I own a Nexus One with 2-year Tmobile. I have tried using data on my phone all over the Phoenix metro area, and my fastest download/upload speeds, no matter where I am at, are about 70k. I have friends in Phoenix who own android phones with Tmobile, and they have used their phones right in front of me. They get download/upload rates much higher than mine.

What steps can I take to make my TMobile 3G data run faster? I have already used the 4636 trick and set the phone to WCDMA only.

Wow, I'm in Chandler and did what you did and get 300-1200Kb using speedtest.net app. Does it show you're on 3G?

Wow - They're really inconsistent across the country. Here in San Diego (North County), it's been the pits... webgroupWest

Or within the span of 2 miles?!
Midtown Atlanta, Georgia Tech. On the side close to I-85 (east side of campus), I get around 5mbps down, 1.6mbps up. Closer to Marietta street (west side of campus), I get around 700kbps down and up. Tested with full 3g bars. So I guess each tower is connected differently (fiber, microwave, and such)? 2.2N1

Compared to about a month ago, the speeds and connections haven't deteriorated, but improvement (HSPA+) is not uniform throughout. And no dropped calls either.
