New update taken down?

I first learned about the update while reading this forum. When i checked my phone it said an update was available. i didnt install it because of some of the problems other ppl were having. I made the choice to risk it after reading about others success and now my phone tells me that there is no update avail. My software is still the same ver. #. did the take it down?

my original check was though wifi when it said the update was avail. it asked my if i wanted to download through wifi or 3g. Now,still on wifi, it just says no updates are avail. i'm cool with it if they took the update down because of problems. i just want to be sure that by me saying no to the update it didnt some how mess the process up.

when i called the sprint store, he said sprint took it down to investigate but then he also said "come in and we can do the update for you" before i told him if he had any problems with EVOs bricking.

Yeah, given the number of incidents with double updates bricking phones, I'll bet they did take it down. The need to get to the bottom of this before it kills them. I'm seeing way too many people reporting this problem. My upgrade went without a hitch...glad I did it before they took it down.

I manually checked early this morning and no updates were available for HTC software. I haven't checked again since reading about the issues but it didn't pop up in my notification bar at all today that an update was available.

I checked this morning also and nothing. Then I checked at about 1130am and the update popped up mine loaded fine.

it figures HTC delivered as promised with the date of the 28th and this happens. I was gonna give them their props but now that I am seeing all these people bricking their phone, I am taking half of it back. I was one of the lucky that it didn't happen too. This is because I did a lot of reading on the forum before I attempted to download the update. My suggestion is when the next updates come. Read the forums first to be safe.

Yeah, it's a shame it turned out bad for some people. It really is a great upgrade. Fixed several annoying issues. Hope it comes back soon and they get their upgrade process squared away. Hard to believe they put in place a process that seems to allow duplicate upgrades on a patch that will brick the phone if applied twice. Very poor deployment procedure.

I can't believe doing an update twice would have this effect. That's like flashing a rom and then flashing it again and bricking it. In the Root world of android, this is done all the time. Something is not coded correctly and that is what's causing the problem. Doing a flash twice should not do this.

Agreed, someone is getting canned tommorow at HTC.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. There should not have even been the opportunity to re-install assuming it worked the first time, and there also should have not been error msgs if it installed correct the first time. And then I also got the corrupt msg. What was that? This should have all been worked out b4 we ever got it. There is no telling how long some of us will wait for our replacement evos now, but I am so disgusted with htc/sprint right now that if I hadn't ported my number, I would cancel and wait for something equal or better down the road.
