AT&T FROYO is OUT!!!

Can't believe it! I'm freakin DLing it now! I have the AT&T N1 and I didn't want to root my phone, I am so glad I waited. Damn, I'm a dork!

I too am very excited... My OTA update just came and my phone is installing as I write this. Woo Hoo!

***Funny thing is I didn't have to do the checkin command, just turned on my phone to order some pizza and there was the notification that my update was ready to install!

When I go to "Settings > About phone > System Updates" it says my system is up to date even though I have 2.1.

Follow this:

Manually Update Your Nexus One To Android 2.2 Froyo! | AndroidGuys

So after you download that file change the name to update.zip (not update.zip.zip) and follow the instructions.

This is what I used:

GSM Nexus Owners (AT&T/Rogers/Telus etc.) can get it here :

Also, for those who do not know how to update manually:

Rename the downloaed file to update.zip

Put it at the root of your SD-Card and then turn off the phone.

Hold down the volume button and then press the power on button, it should go into a boot screen. Wait for a few seconds for it to load up proper and then select "Recovery" with the volume down/up button and press the power button.

Once you see an android holding a sign with an exclamation mark push volume down+ volume up + power button _at the same time_.

Select "apply sdcard:update.zip"(or something similiar) with the trackball and press it.

After the update is finished select "reboot system now" with the trackball and press it.

Wait for it to reboot, it can take a long time mind you.

I thought about the EVO, but then I thought about Sprints network. It may be ok where you are at but it sucks in Dallas. Anyhow, tether and wifi hotspot work great! I love PdaNet, but I just uninstalled it...

Wow, 2.2 is soo much faster. Can anyone else tell the difference b/w 2.1 and 2.2 speeds? It's insane! OK, I think I'll calm down now!

The Aria isn't part of this OTA. That's a Sense UI phone and you'll have to wait for HTC to mod stock 2.2 for your phone. You're probably looking at a few months. After all, the Aria just came out and it's a mid-range phone that won't be as high a priority as the Evo 4G and Incredible.

oh thanks! That eases my mind. I didn't realize the os releases had to be customized for each phone. I don't really know what changes it will bring, if it comes to the phone, but I hate being last to the party; y'know? Especially if any of the quirks I've been experiencing would be fixed by it,or if it would open any new perks for me.

Sprint is really good in Massachusetts where I live (actually all the carriers are) and I had 3g in New Hampshire yesterday where my gf had only edge on ATT so Sprint wins, but I did like the N1 while I had it. Enjoy 2.2, I know I'll have it soon.
