Kindle for Android Released TODAY!

Is it true you can download a free book once the app is installed? I do not have a kindle. I am not sure if I could actually read a book on the small screen so I would like to give it a test run with a book...
yes, once installed you can just browse the market for free books. I just did it to try it out (have never used a kindle/nook device, so I wanted to try it out). Even with my EVOs huge screen, I'm not sure I could see reading a book on it.

Yep, there are numerous free books available from Amazon. Create an account with Amazon.com from your PC first because the first time you run the Kindle app it'll want to register your device with your account.

If you are using Cyanogen that is why. There is a fix.. go to this link:

Random characters in terminal - CyanogenMod Forum

I had the same problem and it fixed it for me.

That fixed it. Thanks!

Try playing around with the view options for font size/color/brightness. These screens obviously aren't meant for long reading sessions, but the view options help a bit.

Thanks. I thought they grouped all the free books in one category. I'll poke around.
When you go into a category you have the option to sort by Price: Low to High. Or there is a free section on the PC site. You can 'purchase' a free book there and it'll sync to the app.
