Root should tyake care of the encryption

I don't think this is gonna be an issue, since I believe (BUT NOT SURE) that only DRM protected stuff is going to be unable to be played through the HDMI port. Dunno for sure.

But if I'm wrong, don't bet on a root any time soon. Signed bootloader means, well, it means there will be no custom ROMs even if rooted, and that alone will mean there will be a much smaller enthusiast community around the X.

Has any phone with a signed ROM not been rooted? Just wondering. Not trying to take a jab at you or anything.

That is why everything for home theater is going to HDMI. HDMC is able to control what you can and can not do thorugh a HDMI port. I am sure that the blockbuster app has a sig that allows playback of a movie streamed to the phone. Where it might be nice to have a single connection DVI could carry the same signal for video it just was not secure.
And rooting will not crack this encription most likely.
