like any loyal nerd i logged on to engadget when i woke up and saw an update for the nexus to 2.2 and then it said

"Update 3: And now we've got a direct link to download a FRF85 build that'll supposedly work for ANY Android build. We can safely say that it worked for us on a T-Mobile device with 2.1 / ERE27. Download from Google here, and if you need direction on how to do the update yourself, take a cue from our commenters. [Thanks, MRCUR and afinite]"

and so i thought well i can at least download it and well it said "signed passion"

i want to try it but as you can tell by my screen shot i'm rooted and i'm kinda worried about loosing root or bricking my phone.

SOMEONE SMARTER THAN I TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!!!

You have the Droid Incredible?
That is quite risky in my opinion.
With a Nexus One, you should have no trouble flashing this. But under your name it says you have a Droid Incredible, is this correct?
I was unaware that anyone had achieved root access on it. I just read that someone rooted and got Froyo on it on June 1st.
So if you have a Nexus One, flash it.
If you have a Droid Incredible... I would not for sure.

here's my theory but i'm not a genius so this may be dumb. i name it update.zip, i create a restore rom of my stock root, i do the update and if i get stuck in a boot loop i just use the unrevoked tool to go back to the update?????

am i wrong?

i see what you mean. the wording is a little weird on engadget's part. it DOES say it'll work on any android build. wonder if any of the dev's or op's have a spare Dinc they're willing to try this on. i can almost guarantee we'd lose root, but at least it would be a start.

It is signed "passion" because HTC Passion is the codename for the Google Nexus One. And yes, I am guessing this would certainly not work for your phone.
When they said "any android build", I am guessing they mean it will work for T-Mobile and AT&T Nexus Ones alike.
Not other phones.
If it updates the radio, it will certainly not work on your phone and may brick it since it is not for your phone. You will not be able to restore as your phone will be bricked, it will not be a matter of restoring from a Nandroid backup I do not think.

As stated above, the wording is weird but I am sure it means Any Android Build = Any T-Mobile or AT&T Nexus One.

Also, that tool will not fix a bricked (useless phone) from a incorrect radio update.

give it a shot, man. worst case scenario you have to nandroid restore.

I don't think that means any "PHONE" it means any "Nexus one" with any "build", but feel free to try it on your phone and let us know how that works out for you

No. A bricked phone can't be fixed by a Nandroid restore or your other utility. Worst case scenario is you brick your phone. Second worst case is that you have to do a restore. But I think that it is more likely that you will brick it due to the radio update.

HTC Droid Incredible.

The HTC Passion is only the codename for the Google Nexus One.
It has roots in the HTC Passion as they do share similarities but the HTC Passion can only refer to the Google Nexus One.

although kosh from cyanogen said he has 2.2 but it is very buggy but he should have it working in no time..... kinda like how christmas is right around the corner...... christmas of 2014 thats is lol

Well, he could very well have 2.2, buggy or not.
CyanogenMod 6 will be released soon, maybe a test build this weekend coming. And it will be based on FroYo.

Well, he could very well have 2.2, buggy or not.
CyanogenMod 6 will be released soon, maybe a test build this weekend coming. And it will be based on FroYo.
Should be good, can't wait to try it on my Nexus One.

there is a CyanogenMod test build 5.something and i tried it and it was slick but it was buggy and hard to get stuff like the market going and my internet kept shutting off so i did everything via wifi but it makes me excited about CyanogenMod 6
