you can get the update by going to settings/about phone/software updates

if you dont have the software updates function in the about phone section, try setting the date to 2012, this should prompt you to receive the 1st part of the download ( its 2 parts) and that should therefore give you the software update in the about phone section

Thanks for the info, but sadly none of that works.

The update option on the 1.5 G2 Touch (aka Hero) is just to download automatically, inform me before downloading, or never download. There's no way to force it manually to go and look for a new version.

Secondly, changing the date has never done a thing on my phone. I've tried it before (twice) and I tried it again this morning by changing to 2012 and still nothing happened. :(

So, for now my phone is steadfastly refusing to believe that anything needs to be updated or that anything is even imminently due to be updated.

No probs. Not your fault after all! It would be useful if you could you point me at the forums where they've got it working? There might be a trick I'm missing, or they might be differences on the phones which would explain the inconsistant results.

As I understand it, the first OTA update was pulled and still hasn't been officially reinstated. The second part might work for those who got part 1 but for those who never did (like me), all is ominously quiet on the T-mobile G2 Touch front at the moment as far as updates are concerned.

Cheers!
